- (upbeat music)
- 00:00:00.210 --> 00:00:02.270
- - [Greg Laurie] The Bible says we live our life
- 00:00:02.270 --> 00:00:04.120
- like the story that's being told.
- 00:00:04.120 --> 00:00:06.120
- And the way that you're living your life right now,
- 00:00:09.000 --> 00:00:11.140
- it looks like your story is gonna be a tragedy,
- 00:00:11.140 --> 00:00:14.190
- but God can change your story.
- 00:00:14.190 --> 00:00:16.290
- God can change everything,
- 00:00:16.290 --> 00:00:19.130
- but you must come to him,
- 00:00:19.130 --> 00:00:20.180
- and say, Lord, I need Your help.
- 00:00:20.180 --> 00:00:23.050
- - [Jay] Welcome to the Harvest Crusade right here,
- 00:00:23.050 --> 00:00:25.160
- Southern California.
- 00:00:25.160 --> 00:00:27.280
- I'm Jay Haizlip, this is the 30-year anniversary
- 00:00:27.280 --> 00:00:32.250
- of Harvest Crusade with Pastor Greg Laurie.
- 00:00:32.250 --> 00:00:35.080
- There's gonna be Passion here.
- 00:00:35.080 --> 00:00:37.210
- You call my name
- 00:00:37.210 --> 00:00:41.030
- And I ran out of that grave
- 00:00:41.030 --> 00:00:45.020
- - I really just praying that God would open up people's eyes
- 00:00:45.020 --> 00:00:47.040
- and they would see Jesus.
- 00:00:47.040 --> 00:00:48.120
- - [Jay] For King & Country here
- 00:00:48.120 --> 00:00:50.200
- Let it move you, let it move
- 00:00:50.200 --> 00:00:55.060
- - This is an event that really moves the needle.
- 00:00:55.060 --> 00:00:57.190
- - [Jay] It's going to be a powerful night.
- 00:00:57.190 --> 00:01:00.110
- - God can write a new ending to your story right now.
- 00:01:00.110 --> 00:01:05.110
- - Here we go.
- 00:01:05.290 --> 00:01:06.220
- (swiping)
- 00:01:07.260 --> 00:01:10.170
- - Hello Harvest!
- 00:01:10.170 --> 00:01:12.160
- - Let's go, let's go!
- 00:01:12.160 --> 00:01:14.180
- I was buried beneath my shame
- 00:01:14.180 --> 00:01:19.180
- Who could carry that kind of weight?
- 00:01:23.010 --> 00:01:28.000
- I wasn't meant to, Lord.
- 00:01:29.060 --> 00:01:31.060
- It was my tomb
- 00:01:31.060 --> 00:01:35.140
- 'Til I met you
- 00:01:35.140 --> 00:01:38.250
- (bass drum pounding)
- 00:01:38.250 --> 00:01:40.270
- I was breathing, but not alive
- 00:01:40.270 --> 00:01:45.270
- All my failures I tried to hide
- 00:01:48.190 --> 00:01:53.190
- It was my tomb
- 00:01:57.110 --> 00:02:01.170
- 'Til the day that I met You
- 00:02:01.170 --> 00:02:04.060
- - Oh what'd he do?
- 00:02:04.060 --> 00:02:05.070
- Come on!
- 00:02:05.070 --> 00:02:06.060
- You called my name
- 00:02:06.060 --> 00:02:09.090
- And I ran out of that grave
- 00:02:09.090 --> 00:02:12.210
- (upbeat music)
- 00:02:12.210 --> 00:02:15.000
- Out of the darkness
- 00:02:15.000 --> 00:02:18.020
- Into Your glorious day
- 00:02:18.020 --> 00:02:23.020
- You called my name
- 00:02:23.260 --> 00:02:26.230
- And I ran out of that grave
- 00:02:26.230 --> 00:02:31.200
- Out of the darkness
- 00:02:32.130 --> 00:02:35.060
- Into Your glorious day
- 00:02:35.060 --> 00:02:38.080
- (upbeat music)
- 00:02:38.080 --> 00:02:40.080
- - How are you guys feeling about being here tonight?
- 00:02:40.080 --> 00:02:42.190
- - Second year we've done this, yeah.
- 00:02:42.190 --> 00:02:44.230
- So it's an honor to be back, man.
- 00:02:44.230 --> 00:02:47.020
- - This is the 30-year anniversary.
- 00:02:47.020 --> 00:02:49.010
- I mean, isn't that amazing, that something can be
- 00:02:49.010 --> 00:02:52.120
- this relevant, and this powerful, and still be this good,
- 00:02:52.120 --> 00:02:55.120
- 30 years later?
- 00:02:55.120 --> 00:02:56.270
- - That's the power of Jesus, it's the power of the gospel.
- 00:02:56.270 --> 00:02:58.230
- It's always powerful, it's always relevant to our lives.
- 00:02:58.230 --> 00:03:02.150
- - What was in your heart, your mind, y'all's thinking
- 00:03:02.150 --> 00:03:05.220
- as you approached tonight?
- 00:03:05.220 --> 00:03:07.110
- - We absolutely love what the team here at Harvest is doing.
- 00:03:07.110 --> 00:03:10.190
- Like you were saying, it's such a testament to Pastor Greg
- 00:03:10.190 --> 00:03:13.150
- and just the whole leadership for 30 years to be doing
- 00:03:13.150 --> 00:03:17.210
- really, one thing, and that's lifting up the name of Jesus
- 00:03:17.210 --> 00:03:20.290
- and to calling people out of darkness and into light
- 00:03:20.290 --> 00:03:23.170
- and life with him.
- 00:03:23.170 --> 00:03:25.010
- I think for us, just coming in for the second time,
- 00:03:25.010 --> 00:03:27.260
- and being here, and experiencing it, to experience
- 00:03:27.260 --> 00:03:29.210
- this whole outfield here filled up with people
- 00:03:29.210 --> 00:03:32.280
- giving their lives to Jesus, we just have
- 00:03:32.280 --> 00:03:35.050
- a whole different framework now as we step in to lead.
- 00:03:35.050 --> 00:03:37.210
- Praying that God would do that same thing,
- 00:03:37.210 --> 00:03:40.190
- that he would open up people's eyes,
- 00:03:40.190 --> 00:03:41.170
- and they would see Jesus.
- 00:03:41.170 --> 00:03:43.190
- When I was broken
- 00:03:43.190 --> 00:03:45.220
- You were my healing
- 00:03:45.220 --> 00:03:47.270
- Now Your love is the air that I'm breathing
- 00:03:47.270 --> 00:03:52.070
- I have a future
- 00:03:52.070 --> 00:03:54.190
- My eyes are open
- 00:03:54.190 --> 00:03:56.200
- 'Cause when you call my name
- 00:03:56.200 --> 00:03:59.010
- Oh, shout, and sing,
- 00:03:59.010 --> 00:04:00.240
- I ran out of that grave
- 00:04:00.240 --> 00:04:05.240
- Out of the darkness
- 00:04:06.170 --> 00:04:09.140
- Into Your glorious day
- 00:04:09.140 --> 00:04:14.140
- You called my name
- 00:04:15.070 --> 00:04:17.290
- And I ran out of that grave
- 00:04:17.290 --> 00:04:22.020
- Oh, you know I did.
- 00:04:22.020 --> 00:04:23.050
- Out of the darkness
- 00:04:23.050 --> 00:04:26.270
- Into your glorious day
- 00:04:26.270 --> 00:04:29.040
- - Somebody at Harvest shout loud, shout loud!
- 00:04:29.040 --> 00:04:31.090
- (rock music)
- 00:04:32.160 --> 00:04:34.110
- (cheering)
- 00:04:34.110 --> 00:04:36.190
- (slower music)
- 00:05:00.200 --> 00:05:03.120
- Here as we wait
- 00:05:03.120 --> 00:05:08.120
- Seek Your face
- 00:05:09.050 --> 00:05:11.250
- Come and make Your throne upon our praise
- 00:05:11.250 --> 00:05:16.220
- Here in this place
- 00:05:16.220 --> 00:05:21.170
- Have Your way
- 00:05:21.170 --> 00:05:24.240
- The moment that we see You, we are changed
- 00:05:24.240 --> 00:05:29.240
- Show us Your glory
- 00:05:31.180 --> 00:05:34.250
- Show us Your glory
- 00:05:34.250 --> 00:05:38.000
- In wonder and surrender we fall down
- 00:05:38.000 --> 00:05:43.000
- Show us Your glory
- 00:05:44.230 --> 00:05:48.050
- Show us Your glory
- 00:05:48.050 --> 00:05:51.100
- Let every burning heart be holy ground
- 00:05:51.100 --> 00:05:56.030
- - Jesus said, "If I be lifted up, I draw all men unto me."
- 00:05:57.160 --> 00:06:01.090
- There's just something about that,
- 00:06:01.090 --> 00:06:03.240
- even to unchurched people.
- 00:06:03.240 --> 00:06:06.160
- Even if they don't understand it, they're like,
- 00:06:06.160 --> 00:06:08.050
- "I don't understand it, but there's something
- 00:06:08.050 --> 00:06:09.170
- "attractive about that."
- 00:06:09.170 --> 00:06:10.260
- Tonight, when you guys are standing on the stage,
- 00:06:12.080 --> 00:06:14.280
- leading tens of thousands of people, and at the end
- 00:06:14.280 --> 00:06:17.290
- of the night, people are going to come forward
- 00:06:17.290 --> 00:06:19.180
- and give their life to Jesus.
- 00:06:19.180 --> 00:06:21.120
- How does that feel for you, knowing that people's
- 00:06:21.120 --> 00:06:25.010
- entire future has been changed as a result
- 00:06:25.010 --> 00:06:27.230
- of you guys playing a part tonight?
- 00:06:27.230 --> 00:06:30.100
- - Honestly, it's really humbling, that the Lord would even
- 00:06:31.260 --> 00:06:33.250
- allow us to have such a part in this.
- 00:06:33.250 --> 00:06:35.220
- You realize that it's an incredible responsibility,
- 00:06:35.220 --> 00:06:39.100
- and it's really what God has called all of us to,
- 00:06:39.100 --> 00:06:41.120
- it's the Great Commission, "Go therefore and make disciples
- 00:06:41.120 --> 00:06:43.150
- of all men, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
- 00:06:43.150 --> 00:06:46.000
- Son, and Holy Spirit.
- 00:06:46.000 --> 00:06:46.250
- That's what we're doing.
- 00:06:46.250 --> 00:06:48.030
- That's what we're all called to do.
- 00:06:48.030 --> 00:06:48.270
- It's really exciting.
- 00:06:48.270 --> 00:06:50.120
- We knew, we trust, and we believe that God's going to
- 00:06:50.120 --> 00:06:51.220
- open eyes for people to see him.
- 00:06:51.220 --> 00:06:53.090
- - Is there a specific song that you guys chose tonight
- 00:06:53.090 --> 00:06:56.030
- with that, "Hey, we're going to be doing this thing
- 00:06:56.030 --> 00:06:59.040
- "for tens of thousands of people, and a lot of the people
- 00:06:59.040 --> 00:07:03.060
- "that are going to be there are unchurched, never given
- 00:07:03.060 --> 00:07:06.010
- "their life to Jesus."
- 00:07:06.010 --> 00:07:07.100
- Did y'all have a song you thought about?
- 00:07:07.100 --> 00:07:09.110
- "This song right here may speak to somebody's heart?"
- 00:07:09.110 --> 00:07:11.150
- - We're going to do some new songs, but we realize
- 00:07:11.150 --> 00:07:14.210
- that a lot of people come in here, they've never been
- 00:07:14.210 --> 00:07:17.010
- to something like this.
- 00:07:17.010 --> 00:07:18.170
- But maybe they've heard an old church song somewhere
- 00:07:18.170 --> 00:07:20.010
- in there, so we've got some older church stuff in there too.
- 00:07:20.010 --> 00:07:22.090
- - That's cool.
- 00:07:22.090 --> 00:07:24.000
- When Christ shall come
- 00:07:24.000 --> 00:07:27.210
- With shouts of acclimation
- 00:07:27.210 --> 00:07:31.010
- Oh and take us all home
- 00:07:31.010 --> 00:07:33.290
- What joy shall fill my heart
- 00:07:33.290 --> 00:07:38.090
- Then I shall bow
- 00:07:38.090 --> 00:07:41.280
- In humble adoration
- 00:07:41.280 --> 00:07:45.230
- And there proclaim
- 00:07:45.230 --> 00:07:48.180
- My God, how great thou art
- 00:07:48.180 --> 00:07:53.070
- Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee
- 00:07:53.070 --> 00:07:58.070
- How great Thou art, how great Thou art
- 00:08:00.140 --> 00:08:05.140
- Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee
- 00:08:07.270 --> 00:08:12.270
- How great Thou art, how great Thou art
- 00:08:15.070 --> 00:08:20.070
- Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee
- 00:08:22.220 --> 00:08:27.220
- How great Thou art, how great Thou art
- 00:08:30.030 --> 00:08:35.030
- Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee
- 00:08:37.100 --> 00:08:42.100
- How great Thou art, how great Thou art
- 00:08:44.250 --> 00:08:49.250
- How great Thou art, how great Thou art
- 00:08:52.110 --> 00:08:57.110
- Whoa, Lord, how great Thou art
- 00:09:00.020 --> 00:09:05.020
- Oh I know it's true, oh I know it's true
- 00:09:07.080 --> 00:09:10.210
- I know that only You are worthy to receive
- 00:09:10.210 --> 00:09:15.200
- All of the glory Jesus
- 00:09:16.180 --> 00:09:19.160
- Only You are worthy to receive
- 00:09:19.160 --> 00:09:23.230
- All of the glory, Jesus
- 00:09:23.230 --> 00:09:26.270
- Only You are worthy to receive
- 00:09:26.270 --> 00:09:30.250
- All of the glory
- 00:09:30.250 --> 00:09:33.260
- Oh, only You are worthy
- 00:09:33.260 --> 00:09:37.110
- Oh, only You are worthy
- 00:09:37.110 --> 00:09:42.110
- Oh, you're worthy
- 00:09:43.040 --> 00:09:44.150
- (swiping)
- 00:09:44.150 --> 00:09:46.030
- - In the past 40 years, this life that I've been living
- 00:09:46.030 --> 00:09:49.150
- has led me to share my experiences with literally millions
- 00:09:49.150 --> 00:09:54.130
- of people looking for truth.
- 00:09:54.130 --> 00:09:57.020
- I have the privilege of pastoring
- 00:09:57.020 --> 00:09:58.170
- Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California,
- 00:09:58.170 --> 00:10:01.190
- and now, a new venture of faith, Harvest Orange County.
- 00:10:01.190 --> 00:10:05.150
- I've traveled this world, sharing this life-changing message
- 00:10:05.150 --> 00:10:09.210
- through the platform of the Harvest Crusades.
- 00:10:09.210 --> 00:10:13.110
- (soft music)
- 00:10:13.110 --> 00:10:15.220
- Has my life been perfect?
- 00:10:18.110 --> 00:10:20.110
- No, far from it.
- 00:10:20.110 --> 00:10:21.200
- There's been a lot of obstacles to overcome.
- 00:10:22.270 --> 00:10:26.170
- A lot of storms to weather.
- 00:10:26.170 --> 00:10:28.150
- Has it been free from pain?
- 00:10:29.130 --> 00:10:31.060
- No.
- 00:10:31.060 --> 00:10:32.140
- I have experienced deep, deep pain.
- 00:10:33.190 --> 00:10:36.270
- The loss of my oldest son, Christopher, in 2008
- 00:10:38.090 --> 00:10:41.050
- in an automobile accident, was the most challenging
- 00:10:41.050 --> 00:10:44.210
- time of my life for my wife, Cathe, and myself.
- 00:10:44.210 --> 00:10:49.050
- (music building)
- 00:10:50.120 --> 00:10:53.090
- But it's on this road that I've chosen where I have found
- 00:10:53.090 --> 00:10:56.270
- comfort and peace and forgiveness and meaning,
- 00:10:56.270 --> 00:11:01.120
- and that is why I'll never stop traveling on it.
- 00:11:01.120 --> 00:11:06.060
- Jesus said, "Broad is the way that leads to destruction,
- 00:11:06.060 --> 00:11:09.120
- "but narrow is the way that leads to life."
- 00:11:09.120 --> 00:11:13.010
- I'm on that narrow road that leads to life now,
- 00:11:13.010 --> 00:11:16.230
- and I hope you'll join me.
- 00:11:16.230 --> 00:11:18.050
- (swiping)
- 00:11:19.010 --> 00:11:21.190
- Well, it's been 30 years.
- 00:11:21.190 --> 00:11:23.170
- Music has changed, technology has changed,
- 00:11:23.170 --> 00:11:27.230
- but some things have not changed, at all.
- 00:11:27.230 --> 00:11:30.100
- Specifically, the need of humanity.
- 00:11:30.100 --> 00:11:33.180
- Nor has the solution to that need changed,
- 00:11:33.180 --> 00:11:36.130
- it is the message of the gospel, needed in America
- 00:11:36.130 --> 00:11:41.020
- more than ever.
- 00:11:41.020 --> 00:11:43.140
- (applause)
- 00:11:43.140 --> 00:11:44.290
- I want to share a message with you tonight called,
- 00:11:44.290 --> 00:11:48.000
- "The Writing Is On The Wall".
- 00:11:48.000 --> 00:11:50.100
- As a matter of fact, I preached on this same text
- 00:11:50.100 --> 00:11:54.030
- 30 years ago.
- 00:11:54.030 --> 00:11:56.250
- So, we'll see if it's a little bit different.
- 00:11:56.250 --> 00:11:59.290
- Let's pray together.
- 00:11:59.290 --> 00:12:01.150
- Father, we thank you, that you're in this place.
- 00:12:01.150 --> 00:12:04.160
- You've told us where two or more are gathered together
- 00:12:04.160 --> 00:12:06.140
- in the name of Jesus, you're there in the midst of them.
- 00:12:06.140 --> 00:12:10.100
- And there's a lot more than two here, plus all the folks
- 00:12:10.100 --> 00:12:13.070
- listening on radio and watching on television, and watching
- 00:12:13.070 --> 00:12:17.220
- on the web.
- 00:12:17.220 --> 00:12:19.060
- So Lord, take these words, and bring them home to people
- 00:12:19.060 --> 00:12:23.080
- that need to hear it.
- 00:12:23.080 --> 00:12:24.190
- We pray that men and women and boys and girls will go
- 00:12:26.040 --> 00:12:29.110
- from darkness to light tonight.
- 00:12:29.110 --> 00:12:32.200
- We pray that they will come to know Jesus, if they don't
- 00:12:32.200 --> 00:12:35.260
- know you yet, and we ask this in Jesus' name, amen.
- 00:12:35.260 --> 00:12:40.090
- (applause)
- 00:12:40.090 --> 00:12:42.020
- All right.
- 00:12:42.020 --> 00:12:43.070
- Okay, so, if you brought a Bible, I'm going to read
- 00:12:44.200 --> 00:12:46.170
- in a few moments from Daniel chapter five.
- 00:12:46.170 --> 00:12:49.150
- The title of my message is, "The Writing On The Wall."
- 00:12:49.150 --> 00:12:52.130
- I was at the gym the other day, hard to believe that
- 00:12:52.130 --> 00:12:54.290
- I go to the gym, but someone offered to weigh me for free
- 00:12:54.290 --> 00:12:59.230
- on this very fancy, hi-tech scale.
- 00:12:59.230 --> 00:13:03.270
- It normally costs, maybe $100, he says,
- 00:13:03.270 --> 00:13:06.170
- "I'll weigh you for free, and then
- 00:13:06.170 --> 00:13:08.150
- "I'll measure your height."
- 00:13:08.150 --> 00:13:10.100
- And so I got on this scale, and I have to admit to you,
- 00:13:10.100 --> 00:13:12.190
- I was pretty disappointed by my weight, it was higher
- 00:13:12.190 --> 00:13:15.130
- than I wanted it to be.
- 00:13:15.130 --> 00:13:17.010
- Then he said, "Let me measure you."
- 00:13:17.010 --> 00:13:18.290
- I used to be 5'10" and now I'm 5'9"?
- 00:13:18.290 --> 00:13:22.120
- So I've shrunk an inch, I've gained weight, and I'm bald.
- 00:13:22.120 --> 00:13:26.110
- This just isn't fair.
- 00:13:26.110 --> 00:13:28.230
- So you know, when we gain weight, we go on diets.
- 00:13:28.230 --> 00:13:32.000
- The objective of a diet, whatever diet you're on,
- 00:13:32.000 --> 00:13:33.280
- is to get your weight to go down on the scale.
- 00:13:33.280 --> 00:13:37.270
- Question, did you know that God has scales too?
- 00:13:37.270 --> 00:13:42.270
- But on God's scales, you don't want to weigh less,
- 00:13:44.100 --> 00:13:46.250
- you want to weigh more.
- 00:13:46.250 --> 00:13:49.080
- Before us here, in the book of Daniel, is the story
- 00:13:49.080 --> 00:13:52.100
- of a young king of Babylon.
- 00:13:52.100 --> 00:13:55.010
- His name was Belshazzar.
- 00:13:55.010 --> 00:13:57.100
- He was effectively placed on God's scales,
- 00:13:57.100 --> 00:14:00.130
- and was told by the Lord himself, that he was
- 00:14:00.130 --> 00:14:03.170
- a spiritual lightweight.
- 00:14:03.170 --> 00:14:06.050
- It is in this story that we get this phrase,
- 00:14:06.050 --> 00:14:08.130
- "the writing is on the wall."
- 00:14:08.130 --> 00:14:10.070
- You've heard that phrase before?
- 00:14:10.070 --> 00:14:11.240
- This is where that comes from.
- 00:14:11.240 --> 00:14:13.250
- So Belshazzar was a great-grandson of King Nebuchadnezzar.
- 00:14:15.140 --> 00:14:19.250
- King Nebuchadnezzar was the king that took the Israelites
- 00:14:19.250 --> 00:14:23.260
- into captivity into Babylon.
- 00:14:23.260 --> 00:14:26.160
- He was a very wicked king, a very evil man.
- 00:14:26.160 --> 00:14:30.290
- But amazingly, he came to believe in the Lord God of Israel,
- 00:14:30.290 --> 00:14:35.290
- and actually sent the message out to his whole kingdom
- 00:14:37.100 --> 00:14:39.080
- that he now was a believer.
- 00:14:39.080 --> 00:14:41.200
- But something didn't get passed on to the next generation
- 00:14:41.200 --> 00:14:45.110
- and the generation to follow.
- 00:14:45.110 --> 00:14:47.280
- So as we come to our story now, we have his grandson,
- 00:14:47.280 --> 00:14:51.030
- Belshazzar, who is literally going out of his way
- 00:14:51.030 --> 00:14:54.240
- to mock God.
- 00:14:54.240 --> 00:14:57.150
- He's going out of his way to shake his fist at God,
- 00:14:57.150 --> 00:15:01.040
- and to defy him.
- 00:15:01.040 --> 00:15:02.190
- And I sort of understand that, because I've always been
- 00:15:02.190 --> 00:15:05.090
- a bit of a mocker myself.
- 00:15:05.090 --> 00:15:08.030
- I was driving along one time in the South and I saw
- 00:15:08.030 --> 00:15:11.020
- a town called Mocksville.
- 00:15:11.020 --> 00:15:13.110
- I thought, "I should have been born in Mocksville,
- 00:15:13.110 --> 00:15:16.050
- "instead of Long Beach."
- 00:15:16.050 --> 00:15:17.190
- Because I, as a kid, would always mock authority figures,
- 00:15:17.190 --> 00:15:21.040
- I would mock the teachers, get into trouble.
- 00:15:21.040 --> 00:15:23.290
- And I used to mock Christians.
- 00:15:23.290 --> 00:15:27.130
- I thought they were collectively nuts.
- 00:15:27.130 --> 00:15:30.170
- I thought they were one taco short
- 00:15:30.170 --> 00:15:32.240
- of a combination plate, right?
- 00:15:32.240 --> 00:15:35.210
- And they were on my high school campus.
- 00:15:35.210 --> 00:15:37.220
- We didn't call them Christians, we called them Jesus Freaks.
- 00:15:39.040 --> 00:15:41.260
- And my friends warned me, and they said,
- 00:15:41.260 --> 00:15:44.070
- because I just transferred to that campus in Newport Beach,
- 00:15:44.070 --> 00:15:47.010
- Harbor High School, they said, "Greg, be careful,
- 00:15:47.010 --> 00:15:49.050
- "we have a lot of Jesus Freaks on this campus."
- 00:15:49.050 --> 00:15:52.000
- and I said, "Oh, give me a break.
- 00:15:52.000 --> 00:15:53.140
- "The last thing Greg Laurie will ever do
- 00:15:53.140 --> 00:15:55.120
- "is become a Jesus Freak."
- 00:15:55.120 --> 00:15:57.240
- Famous last words.
- 00:15:57.240 --> 00:15:59.160
- (applause)
- 00:15:59.160 --> 00:16:01.080
- So I thought they were crazy, I dismissed them.
- 00:16:01.080 --> 00:16:04.140
- But then I saw this really cute girl, and she had a Bible.
- 00:16:04.140 --> 00:16:09.140
- And I thought to myself, "Why would a perfectly cute girl
- 00:16:10.270 --> 00:16:13.000
- "carry a Bible?"
- 00:16:13.000 --> 00:16:15.290
- And so I was intrigued, and so I went and sat close enough
- 00:16:15.290 --> 00:16:19.040
- to one of their meetings, because they had these little
- 00:16:19.040 --> 00:16:20.250
- Bible studies in the front lawn of our high school campus.
- 00:16:20.250 --> 00:16:24.130
- I sat close enough to eavesdrop on their conversation,
- 00:16:24.130 --> 00:16:27.250
- but not close enough where people would think I was
- 00:16:27.250 --> 00:16:30.150
- actually joining them.
- 00:16:30.150 --> 00:16:32.030
- That was the first time I heard the gospel.
- 00:16:32.030 --> 00:16:34.200
- And that was the day I put my faith in Jesus Christ.
- 00:16:36.040 --> 00:16:39.090
- I have never regretted that day.
- 00:16:39.090 --> 00:16:43.030
- Never.
- 00:16:43.030 --> 00:16:43.280
- (applause)
- 00:16:45.080 --> 00:16:47.050
- Some of you are hearing what I'm about to say
- 00:16:47.050 --> 00:16:50.040
- for the first time.
- 00:16:50.040 --> 00:16:51.180
- I'm going to ask you this, don't let other people
- 00:16:51.180 --> 00:16:54.070
- do your thinking for you.
- 00:16:54.070 --> 00:16:56.270
- Think for yourself.
- 00:16:56.270 --> 00:16:58.180
- Listen with your mind, and listen with your heart tonight.
- 00:16:58.180 --> 00:17:02.100
- And I believe that you will hear God speak to you.
- 00:17:02.100 --> 00:17:07.040
- So coming back to our story, here's Belshazzar,
- 00:17:07.040 --> 00:17:10.100
- shaking his fist at God, the message had not been passed on.
- 00:17:10.100 --> 00:17:15.100
- Actually, it's interesting, because he had a father
- 00:17:16.220 --> 00:17:18.290
- whose name was Evil-Merodach.
- 00:17:18.290 --> 00:17:22.130
- Evil-Merodach.
- 00:17:22.130 --> 00:17:23.200
- I mean, who names their kid Evil?
- 00:17:23.200 --> 00:17:26.050
- You know that kid's not going to turn out well,
- 00:17:26.050 --> 00:17:28.070
- if you name him Evil.
- 00:17:28.070 --> 00:17:30.030
- Unless he's Evel Knievel, who, actually, I heard,
- 00:17:30.030 --> 00:17:33.050
- came to Christ.
- 00:17:33.050 --> 00:17:34.130
- So that worked out for Evel Knievel.
- 00:17:34.130 --> 00:17:36.060
- But this Evil-Merodach, lived up to his name,
- 00:17:36.060 --> 00:17:39.040
- and he has a son named Belshazzar, who has no interest
- 00:17:39.040 --> 00:17:42.140
- in God whatsoever.
- 00:17:42.140 --> 00:17:44.220
- Why do I bring that up?
- 00:17:44.220 --> 00:17:46.080
- Listen to this, just because you were born in a Christian
- 00:17:46.080 --> 00:17:49.150
- home, doesn't make you a Christian.
- 00:17:49.150 --> 00:17:52.010
- Just because your grandparents, or even your parents,
- 00:17:52.010 --> 00:17:55.030
- believed in Jesus, doesn't mean that you automatically
- 00:17:55.030 --> 00:17:58.250
- become a believer.
- 00:17:58.250 --> 00:18:00.170
- The way you become a believer in Jesus is not by being born
- 00:18:00.170 --> 00:18:04.240
- into a Christian family, it's by being born again.
- 00:18:04.240 --> 00:18:09.070
- Jesus said, "You must be born again."
- 00:18:09.070 --> 00:18:12.180
- (swiping)
- 00:18:12.180 --> 00:18:14.130
- (drumming)
- 00:18:14.130 --> 00:18:16.210
- Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh yeah
- 00:18:30.270 --> 00:18:35.270
- Hit rewind
- 00:18:40.080 --> 00:18:41.260
- Click delete
- 00:18:41.260 --> 00:18:44.170
- Stand face to face with the younger me
- 00:18:44.170 --> 00:18:49.080
- Oh yeah, all of the mistakes
- 00:18:49.080 --> 00:18:52.040
- All of the heartbreak
- 00:18:52.040 --> 00:18:53.260
- Here's what I'd do differently
- 00:18:53.260 --> 00:18:57.290
- - Southern California, are you with us?
- 00:18:59.150 --> 00:19:01.290
- (cheering)
- 00:19:01.290 --> 00:19:04.010
- I'd love like I'm not scared
- 00:19:04.010 --> 00:19:06.190
- Give when it's not fair
- 00:19:06.190 --> 00:19:08.280
- Live life for another
- 00:19:08.280 --> 00:19:11.110
- Take time for a brother
- 00:19:11.110 --> 00:19:13.220
- Fight for the weak ones
- 00:19:13.220 --> 00:19:16.120
- Speak out for freedom
- 00:19:16.120 --> 00:19:18.120
- Find faith in the battle
- 00:19:18.120 --> 00:19:20.270
- Stand tall but above it all
- 00:19:20.270 --> 00:19:22.200
- - Let me hear you sing,
- 00:19:22.200 --> 00:19:24.260
- Fix my eyes on you
- 00:19:24.260 --> 00:19:29.250
- On you
- 00:19:32.150 --> 00:19:34.170
- - Thirty years Harvest Crusade's been going on.
- 00:19:36.140 --> 00:19:39.100
- What does that feel like for you guys to be a part
- 00:19:39.100 --> 00:19:42.070
- of something that's been happening for 30 years?
- 00:19:42.070 --> 00:19:43.290
- - I said to the rest of our band guys earlier,
- 00:19:43.290 --> 00:19:47.150
- I said, this is an event that really moves the needle.
- 00:19:47.150 --> 00:19:50.050
- It moves the needle spiritually in people's life.
- 00:19:50.050 --> 00:19:53.010
- There's a ton of people that end up showing up
- 00:19:53.010 --> 00:19:55.060
- to these events.
- 00:19:55.060 --> 00:19:57.070
- And then, these people, they go somewhere after this.
- 00:19:57.070 --> 00:20:00.000
- So you have this moment where you get to speak to them,
- 00:20:00.000 --> 00:20:02.260
- Greg gets to speak to them, and for us, we get
- 00:20:02.260 --> 00:20:04.100
- to sing to these people.
- 00:20:04.100 --> 00:20:05.160
- I think our hope is always that through song
- 00:20:05.160 --> 00:20:08.070
- it stirs up people's souls, it stirs up their hearts.
- 00:20:08.070 --> 00:20:11.250
- It's a thrill for us to be here.
- 00:20:11.250 --> 00:20:15.010
- Anytime that you can, I mean, I'm 32.
- 00:20:15.010 --> 00:20:17.190
- When I made it to 30 I was celebrated that I made it to 30.
- 00:20:17.190 --> 00:20:21.090
- When you've got an event like this,
- 00:20:21.090 --> 00:20:22.180
- with thousands upon thousands of people,
- 00:20:22.180 --> 00:20:24.060
- in 30 years, - It started when you were
- 00:20:24.060 --> 00:20:25.220
- two years old. - Yeah exactly,
- 00:20:25.220 --> 00:20:26.170
- it's crazy!
- 00:20:26.170 --> 00:20:27.260
- And it's still going. - It's still relevant,
- 00:20:27.260 --> 00:20:29.010
- It's still powerful.
- 00:20:29.010 --> 00:20:30.160
- So in preparing for tonight, was there one particular song,
- 00:20:30.160 --> 00:20:32.040
- or maybe all of your songs, you were like,
- 00:20:32.040 --> 00:20:34.040
- "I really feel or believe that this song,
- 00:20:34.040 --> 00:20:37.160
- "if we sing this song to this song,
- 00:20:37.160 --> 00:20:39.190
- "the people that are in this stadium tonight,
- 00:20:39.190 --> 00:20:42.000
- "that maybe are far from God, don't know God,
- 00:20:42.000 --> 00:20:44.010
- "it might resonate with their heart, speak to them."
- 00:20:44.010 --> 00:20:47.160
- What we kind of do is try and craft this time frame
- 00:20:47.160 --> 00:20:52.160
- to where we take people on a bit of a journey,
- 00:20:53.210 --> 00:20:56.260
- tell them a bit of a story through this.
- 00:20:56.260 --> 00:21:00.210
- There's certainly a lot of themes, a lot of messages
- 00:21:00.210 --> 00:21:03.250
- culminating in this idea of joy being,
- 00:21:03.250 --> 00:21:06.130
- not this glitzy, glammy, fluffy word, but this real diligent
- 00:21:06.130 --> 00:21:10.130
- choice, aggressive choice that we have.
- 00:21:10.130 --> 00:21:12.100
- Our hope is that it adds to the tapestry of the whole night,
- 00:21:12.100 --> 00:21:16.050
- culminating with what Greg shares.
- 00:21:16.050 --> 00:21:19.010
- And love like I'm not scared
- 00:21:19.010 --> 00:21:21.110
- Give when it's not fair
- 00:21:21.110 --> 00:21:23.190
- Live life for another
- 00:21:23.190 --> 00:21:25.210
- Take time for a brother
- 00:21:25.210 --> 00:21:28.110
- Fight for the weak ones
- 00:21:28.110 --> 00:21:30.190
- Speak out for freedom
- 00:21:30.190 --> 00:21:33.020
- Find faith in the battle
- 00:21:33.020 --> 00:21:35.120
- Stand tall but above it all
- 00:21:35.120 --> 00:21:38.130
- - Everybody over here,
- 00:21:38.130 --> 00:21:39.210
- Fix my eyes on you
- 00:21:39.210 --> 00:21:44.210
- On you
- 00:21:47.050 --> 00:21:49.260
- The things of Earth are dimming
- 00:21:49.260 --> 00:21:54.020
- In the light of Your glory and grace
- 00:21:54.020 --> 00:21:59.020
- I'll set my sights upon Heaven
- 00:22:00.080 --> 00:22:04.010
- I'm fixing my eyes on you
- 00:22:04.010 --> 00:22:09.010
- On you
- 00:22:12.010 --> 00:22:14.020
- We're fixing our eyes on you
- 00:22:14.020 --> 00:22:19.020
- On you
- 00:22:20.250 --> 00:22:23.100
- We're fixing our eyes
- 00:22:23.100 --> 00:22:26.000
- Love like I'm not scared
- 00:22:26.000 --> 00:22:29.010
- Give when it's not fair
- 00:22:29.010 --> 00:22:30.210
- Live life for another
- 00:22:30.210 --> 00:22:33.010
- Take time for a brother
- 00:22:33.010 --> 00:22:35.150
- And I fight for the weak ones
- 00:22:35.150 --> 00:22:38.020
- Speak out for freedom
- 00:22:38.020 --> 00:22:40.080
- Find faith in the battle
- 00:22:40.080 --> 00:22:42.200
- Stand tall but above it all
- 00:22:42.200 --> 00:22:44.260
- - Every voice!
- 00:22:44.260 --> 00:22:46.070
- Fix my eyes on you
- 00:22:46.070 --> 00:22:51.070
- On you
- 00:22:54.290 --> 00:22:56.280
- I fix my eyes on you, on you
- 00:22:56.280 --> 00:23:02.000
- I'll fix my eyes on you, on you
- 00:23:03.070 --> 00:23:06.050
- (cheering)
- 00:23:07.250 --> 00:23:10.220
- (marimba)
- 00:23:10.220 --> 00:23:12.270
- Lately I've been reading, watching the nightly news
- 00:23:18.290 --> 00:23:23.130
- Don't seem to find the rhythm, just wanna sing the blues
- 00:23:23.130 --> 00:23:26.130
- Feels like a song that never stops
- 00:23:26.130 --> 00:23:30.140
- Feels like it's never gonna
- 00:23:30.140 --> 00:23:32.210
- Gotta get that fire, fire, back in my bones
- 00:23:32.210 --> 00:23:37.010
- Before my heart, heart, turns into stone
- 00:23:37.010 --> 00:23:40.260
- So somebody please pass the megaphone
- 00:23:40.260 --> 00:23:44.280
- I'll shout it on the count of three
- 00:23:44.280 --> 00:23:47.110
- - [Crowd] One, two, three!
- 00:23:47.110 --> 00:23:49.160
- Oh, hear my prayer tonight, I'm singing to the sky
- 00:23:50.280 --> 00:23:54.090
- Give me the strength to raise my voice, let me testify
- 00:23:54.090 --> 00:23:57.270
- Oh, hear my prayer tonight, 'cause this is do or die
- 00:23:57.270 --> 00:24:02.000
- The time has come to make a choice
- 00:24:02.000 --> 00:24:04.130
- And I choose joy
- 00:24:04.130 --> 00:24:07.170
- Let it move you, let it move you, let it move you
- 00:24:07.170 --> 00:24:12.170
- Yeah, I choose joy
- 00:24:13.200 --> 00:24:15.140
- Let it move it you, let it move, let it move you
- 00:24:15.140 --> 00:24:20.140
- Yeah, back when I was young, my eyes were full of life
- 00:24:22.130 --> 00:24:26.070
- But now that I am older I live at the speed of light
- 00:24:26.070 --> 00:24:30.060
- Feels like the cycle never stops
- 00:24:30.060 --> 00:24:34.150
- Feels like it's never gonna
- 00:24:34.150 --> 00:24:36.230
- Gotta get that fire, fire back in my bones
- 00:24:36.230 --> 00:24:40.210
- Before my heart, heart turns into stone
- 00:24:40.210 --> 00:24:44.180
- So somebody please pass the megaphone
- 00:24:44.180 --> 00:24:48.270
- I'll shout it on the count of three
- 00:24:48.270 --> 00:24:51.020
- - Shout it out
- 00:24:51.020 --> 00:24:52.030
- - [Crowd] One, two, three!
- 00:24:52.030 --> 00:24:54.100
- Oh, hear my prayer tonight, I'm singing to the sky
- 00:24:54.100 --> 00:24:58.040
- Give me strength to raise my voice, let me testify
- 00:24:58.040 --> 00:25:02.060
- Oh, hear my prayer tonight, 'cause this is do or die
- 00:25:02.060 --> 00:25:06.160
- The time has come to make a choice
- 00:25:06.160 --> 00:25:09.020
- And choose joy
- 00:25:09.020 --> 00:25:11.070
- Let it move you, let it move you,
- 00:25:11.070 --> 00:25:13.120
- - That's right
- 00:25:13.120 --> 00:25:14.130
- Let it move you
- 00:25:14.130 --> 00:25:17.000
- I choose joy
- 00:25:17.000 --> 00:25:19.050
- Let it move you, let it move, let it move you
- 00:25:19.050 --> 00:25:24.050
- Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of night
- 00:25:25.220 --> 00:25:29.170
- Oh, with You by my side, I'm stepping into the light
- 00:25:29.170 --> 00:25:33.150
- I choose joy
- 00:25:33.150 --> 00:25:35.260
- Let it move you, let it move, let it move
- 00:25:35.260 --> 00:25:40.260
- - Your guys' story, where are you from?
- 00:25:42.020 --> 00:25:43.140
- - We're originally from Australia.
- 00:25:43.140 --> 00:25:45.110
- - We live in Nashville, Tennessee now.
- 00:25:45.110 --> 00:25:47.280
- So it's a bit of a muttered accent we've got going on.
- 00:25:47.280 --> 00:25:51.090
- - Tell me about your guys' journey as it relates
- 00:25:51.090 --> 00:25:54.120
- to your walk with God, coming to Christ.
- 00:25:54.120 --> 00:25:56.180
- - We were very fortunate, not only
- 00:25:56.180 --> 00:25:59.130
- in our immediate generation, but our grandparents,
- 00:25:59.130 --> 00:26:01.150
- our great grandparents, carried this faith along with them,
- 00:26:01.150 --> 00:26:05.040
- that was instilled in us from the time we were kids.
- 00:26:05.040 --> 00:26:07.240
- Luke and I are two of seven kids.
- 00:26:07.240 --> 00:26:09.090
- It's a large family, we've always been very close,
- 00:26:09.090 --> 00:26:12.280
- very knit together.
- 00:26:12.280 --> 00:26:14.170
- But there was one pivotal moment, and actually what brought
- 00:26:14.170 --> 00:26:18.180
- us to the United States, our dad was a concert promoter,
- 00:26:18.180 --> 00:26:21.190
- and he lost a quarter of a million dollars
- 00:26:21.190 --> 00:26:23.130
- at 40 years old with six kids and one on the way.
- 00:26:23.130 --> 00:26:26.060
- So he basically sold everything, packed 16 suitcases,
- 00:26:26.060 --> 00:26:29.130
- and moved to the United States.
- 00:26:29.130 --> 00:26:31.290
- It was a real tumultuous time for the family,
- 00:26:31.290 --> 00:26:35.230
- particularly for parents, we just thought it was
- 00:26:35.230 --> 00:26:38.170
- the Wild, Wild West in some ways.
- 00:26:38.170 --> 00:26:40.130
- But it really knit us together, and it really made us
- 00:26:40.130 --> 00:26:45.130
- look upwards.
- 00:26:46.010 --> 00:26:47.160
- I remember there were nights we'd sit in our furniture-less
- 00:26:47.160 --> 00:26:49.230
- living room, we would just pray for anything and everything,
- 00:26:49.230 --> 00:26:51.260
- checks to cover our bills, furniture for our house,
- 00:26:51.260 --> 00:26:54.240
- a way for our little sister to be born in a hospital.
- 00:26:54.240 --> 00:26:57.110
- And just saw miraculous intervention on each level
- 00:26:57.110 --> 00:27:00.180
- that really has led us to today.
- 00:27:00.180 --> 00:27:02.190
- There's more to it, but that's sort of the nutshell version
- 00:27:02.190 --> 00:27:06.070
- of how we're sitting with you today.
- 00:27:06.070 --> 00:27:08.020
- - Some of your songs came out of that?
- 00:27:08.020 --> 00:27:09.080
- - I'd say indirectly, yeah.
- 00:27:09.080 --> 00:27:10.250
- - When you have these stories that start from when you
- 00:27:10.250 --> 00:27:14.070
- were so young, people often ask,
- 00:27:14.070 --> 00:27:15.240
- "So how did you guys get into music?"
- 00:27:15.240 --> 00:27:17.080
- And it started from our dad doing shows when we were a kid,
- 00:27:17.080 --> 00:27:21.060
- and you don't understand necessarily how much
- 00:27:21.060 --> 00:27:23.140
- that influences your entire life.
- 00:27:23.140 --> 00:27:25.010
- I think it's the same spiritually.
- 00:27:25.010 --> 00:27:27.160
- It's the same when your parents are teaching you
- 00:27:27.160 --> 00:27:30.250
- right from wrong, they're teaching you about God,
- 00:27:30.250 --> 00:27:33.290
- and they're teaching you about life,
- 00:27:33.290 --> 00:27:36.120
- it permeates your music, it permeates your artistry,
- 00:27:36.120 --> 00:27:39.090
- it permeates your creativity.
- 00:27:39.090 --> 00:27:42.000
- A lot of who we are today has an awful lot to do
- 00:27:42.000 --> 00:27:44.160
- with what took place so many years ago when we were
- 00:27:44.160 --> 00:27:47.210
- on our pilgrimage, if you will, to America.
- 00:27:47.210 --> 00:27:50.260
- - So beautiful.
- 00:27:50.260 --> 00:27:52.090
- I choose joy
- 00:27:52.090 --> 00:27:53.230
- Won't you let it move you
- 00:27:53.230 --> 00:27:55.110
- Gonna let it move you
- 00:27:55.110 --> 00:27:57.150
- Gonna let it move you
- 00:27:57.150 --> 00:27:59.230
- Yeah, I choose joy
- 00:27:59.230 --> 00:28:02.000
- Let it move you, let it move, yeah
- 00:28:02.000 --> 00:28:05.280
- Let it move, yeah
- 00:28:05.280 --> 00:28:08.120
- Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of night
- 00:28:08.120 --> 00:28:12.000
- Oh, with You by my side, I'm stepping into the light
- 00:28:12.000 --> 00:28:16.000
- I choose joy
- 00:28:16.000 --> 00:28:17.240
- Let it move you, let if move, let it move you
- 00:28:17.240 --> 00:28:22.240
- I need that joy, joy, joy, joy
- 00:28:24.000 --> 00:28:28.180
- Down in my heart, down in my heart to stay
- 00:28:28.180 --> 00:28:32.040
- I need the joy, joy, joy, joy
- 00:28:32.040 --> 00:28:34.180
- Down in my heart, down in my heart to stay
- 00:28:34.180 --> 00:28:39.180
- (marimba and drums)
- 00:28:40.190 --> 00:28:43.190
- (cheering)
- 00:29:14.200 --> 00:29:16.090
- (swiping)
- 00:29:16.090 --> 00:29:18.280
- - His name is Greg Laurie.
- 00:29:18.280 --> 00:29:20.230
- And they've been writing him up as a man that is going to be
- 00:29:22.060 --> 00:29:26.050
- the evangelist of the future.
- 00:29:26.050 --> 00:29:28.140
- And he is.
- 00:29:28.140 --> 00:29:30.010
- - [Narrator] In 1990, led by evangelist and pastor,
- 00:29:30.010 --> 00:29:32.220
- Greg Laurie, and out of a desire to answer Christ's call
- 00:29:32.220 --> 00:29:35.280
- to go into all the world and preach the gospel,
- 00:29:35.280 --> 00:29:38.170
- the very first Harvest Crusade was held
- 00:29:38.170 --> 00:29:40.180
- in Southern California.
- 00:29:40.180 --> 00:29:41.240
- The concept was to present the top artists
- 00:29:41.240 --> 00:29:44.070
- in Christian music in a neutral atmosphere,
- 00:29:44.070 --> 00:29:46.200
- setting the stage for the proclamation of the gospel.
- 00:29:46.200 --> 00:29:49.090
- They came for the music, but stayed for the message.
- 00:29:49.090 --> 00:29:52.130
- - You know that if you ask Christ into your life,
- 00:29:52.130 --> 00:29:54.260
- and if you turn from your sin, you can be forgiven.
- 00:29:54.260 --> 00:29:58.050
- You know there's a heaven, you know there's a hell,
- 00:29:58.050 --> 00:30:00.220
- and what are you going to do about?
- 00:30:01.270 --> 00:30:03.110
- By 2011, it was documented that more than 370.000 people
- 00:30:03.110 --> 00:30:07.070
- had made a commitment to follow Jesus Christ
- 00:30:07.070 --> 00:30:09.060
- at a Harvest Crusade.
- 00:30:09.060 --> 00:30:11.000
- But that was just the beginning.
- 00:30:11.000 --> 00:30:12.180
- Not willing to rest on past victories,
- 00:30:14.060 --> 00:30:16.110
- Greg Laurie and the team praised God for his faithfulness
- 00:30:16.110 --> 00:30:19.080
- in the past, and prayed for new opportunities in the future.
- 00:30:19.080 --> 00:30:22.130
- And in 2012, Harvest America was launched.
- 00:30:23.190 --> 00:30:25.130
- Utilizing the advancements
- 00:30:26.150 --> 00:30:27.260
- in web-based streaming technology,
- 00:30:27.260 --> 00:30:30.020
- Harvest events were no longer confined within the walls
- 00:30:30.020 --> 00:30:32.240
- of a stadium.
- 00:30:32.240 --> 00:30:34.090
- Now they can be carried live into theaters, homes,
- 00:30:34.090 --> 00:30:36.010
- and churches around the world simultaneously.
- 00:30:36.010 --> 00:30:39.230
- Harvest America events have since streamed live
- 00:30:39.230 --> 00:30:42.150
- from California, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Dallas, Texas.
- 00:30:42.150 --> 00:30:46.220
- Including 2016, from AT&T Stadium, which was deemed
- 00:30:46.220 --> 00:30:50.140
- the largest one-day live evangelistic event in U.S. history.
- 00:30:50.140 --> 00:30:54.150
- Thirty years of God's faithfulness.
- 00:30:55.190 --> 00:30:57.200
- Thirty years of changed lives.
- 00:30:57.200 --> 00:30:59.210
- How many lives, to be exact?
- 00:30:59.210 --> 00:31:02.190
- For all Harvest events combined, a staggering 499.545
- 00:31:02.190 --> 00:31:06.070
- professions of faith to follow Jesus Christ.
- 00:31:09.030 --> 00:31:12.230
- - [Greg] The Bible says there is joy in Heaven
- 00:31:12.230 --> 00:31:14.030
- in the presence of the angels over one sinner
- 00:31:14.030 --> 00:31:16.290
- that comes to repentance.
- 00:31:16.290 --> 00:31:19.050
- - [Narrator] For 30 years, Harvest is still committed
- 00:31:19.050 --> 00:31:21.220
- to answering the call, reaching the lost, the hurting,
- 00:31:21.220 --> 00:31:24.210
- the hopeless, with the life-changing, life-giving,
- 00:31:24.210 --> 00:31:28.020
- redeeming power of Christ.
- 00:31:28.020 --> 00:31:30.200
- The gospel is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
- 00:31:30.200 --> 00:31:34.060
- (swiping)
- 00:31:35.210 --> 00:31:37.270
- So here's the story, right here in Daniel chapter five,
- 00:31:37.270 --> 00:31:41.050
- let me read it to you.
- 00:31:41.050 --> 00:31:42.160
- "King Belshazzar gave a great feast
- 00:31:42.160 --> 00:31:44.290
- "for a thousand of his nobles.
- 00:31:44.290 --> 00:31:47.010
- "He drank wine with them, and while Belshazzar
- 00:31:47.010 --> 00:31:49.270
- "was drinking the wine, he gave orders to bring in
- 00:31:49.270 --> 00:31:52.160
- "the silver and gold cups that his predecessor,
- 00:31:52.160 --> 00:31:56.010
- "Nebuchadnezzar, had taken from the temple in Jerusalem."
- 00:31:56.010 --> 00:31:59.250
- These were holy objects used in worship by the Jewish people
- 00:31:59.250 --> 00:32:04.070
- that were taken with the Jewish people
- 00:32:04.070 --> 00:32:06.240
- into captivity into Babylon.
- 00:32:06.240 --> 00:32:08.230
- "He wanted to drink from them with his nobles, his wives,
- 00:32:08.230 --> 00:32:12.110
- "and his concubines."
- 00:32:12.110 --> 00:32:13.280
- If you don't know what a concubine is and you're young,
- 00:32:13.280 --> 00:32:16.180
- ask your mom and dad later.
- 00:32:16.180 --> 00:32:18.080
- "They brought these gold cups, taken from the temple,
- 00:32:18.080 --> 00:32:21.220
- "the house of God in Jerusalem, and the king and his nobles
- 00:32:21.220 --> 00:32:24.280
- "were drinking from them, and while they drank from them
- 00:32:24.280 --> 00:32:28.250
- "and praised their idols of gold and silver,
- 00:32:28.250 --> 00:32:32.080
- "suddenly they saw the fingers of a human hand
- 00:32:32.080 --> 00:32:36.210
- "writing on the wall of the king's palace
- 00:32:36.210 --> 00:32:40.050
- "near the lampstand.
- 00:32:40.050 --> 00:32:41.190
- "The king saw the hand as it wrote, and his face turned pale
- 00:32:41.190 --> 00:32:46.100
- "with fright.
- 00:32:46.100 --> 00:32:47.180
- "His knees knocked together in fear,
- 00:32:47.180 --> 00:32:50.050
- "and his legs gave way beneath him."
- 00:32:50.050 --> 00:32:53.240
- Wow, what a vivid story!
- 00:32:53.240 --> 00:32:56.110
- Here's the king, partying away.
- 00:32:56.110 --> 00:33:00.030
- These old ancient kings, they loved to flaunt their wealth.
- 00:33:00.030 --> 00:33:03.120
- If Belshazzar was around today and had an Instagram account,
- 00:33:03.120 --> 00:33:06.020
- he would be sitting on a pile of money with gold chains
- 00:33:06.020 --> 00:33:09.190
- hanging around his neck, with babes and Bentleys
- 00:33:09.190 --> 00:33:12.210
- in the background.
- 00:33:12.210 --> 00:33:14.100
- He was flaunting his wealth, living large,
- 00:33:14.100 --> 00:33:17.040
- "Look at what I've accomplished!"
- 00:33:17.040 --> 00:33:19.180
- And he was drinking.
- 00:33:19.180 --> 00:33:21.110
- Not usually a good combination.
- 00:33:21.110 --> 00:33:23.130
- I don't know if you noticed this, but drinking makes you do
- 00:33:23.130 --> 00:33:27.010
- stupid stuff.
- 00:33:27.010 --> 00:33:28.190
- I just read about a four-year study that determined
- 00:33:29.290 --> 00:33:32.100
- the following, "Young adults who drink frequently
- 00:33:32.100 --> 00:33:36.110
- "are more likely to show disadvantageous decision-making
- 00:33:36.110 --> 00:33:40.220
- "patterns than their peers who don't drink."
- 00:33:40.220 --> 00:33:44.040
- You needed a four-year study to figure that out?
- 00:33:44.040 --> 00:33:46.290
- Give me a break!
- 00:33:48.020 --> 00:33:49.120
- So here he is, he's having a big, old party.
- 00:33:49.120 --> 00:33:52.220
- Sometimes people think that they can just live as they want,
- 00:33:52.220 --> 00:33:57.130
- and disregard the standards that God has given us.
- 00:33:57.130 --> 00:34:02.150
- We call them the Ten Commandments.
- 00:34:03.200 --> 00:34:05.050
- They're there for a reason.
- 00:34:05.050 --> 00:34:06.290
- You shall not steal.
- 00:34:06.290 --> 00:34:09.070
- You shall not lie.
- 00:34:09.070 --> 00:34:11.220
- You shall not commit adultery.
- 00:34:11.220 --> 00:34:14.080
- You shall not take the Lord's name in vain.
- 00:34:14.080 --> 00:34:16.270
- God does not give us those standards to ruin our life,
- 00:34:16.270 --> 00:34:21.090
- he gives them to us to protect us from harm.
- 00:34:21.090 --> 00:34:25.100
- They're not some big wall that keeps the fun out,
- 00:34:25.100 --> 00:34:28.120
- they're a wall of protection that keep us safe.
- 00:34:28.120 --> 00:34:31.220
- And when you start breaking God's commandments,
- 00:34:31.220 --> 00:34:33.220
- you're gonna reap the consequences.
- 00:34:33.220 --> 00:34:36.260
- Oh I know, you think, "Oh I can drink, it won't affect me."
- 00:34:36.260 --> 00:34:39.270
- Or, "I can do some drugs here, and I won't become an addict
- 00:34:39.270 --> 00:34:43.190
- "of any kind."
- 00:34:43.190 --> 00:34:45.040
- "Or, I'll get into this thing, and it won't take me over."
- 00:34:45.040 --> 00:34:47.060
- And one day you find yourself facing
- 00:34:47.060 --> 00:34:50.070
- the massive consequences of all the bad decisions
- 00:34:50.070 --> 00:34:54.100
- that you have made.
- 00:34:54.100 --> 00:34:57.170
- Here's the king, living large, and suddenly, we read,
- 00:34:57.170 --> 00:35:02.060
- he saw a hand writing on the wall.
- 00:35:02.060 --> 00:35:05.170
- It was the hand of God.
- 00:35:05.170 --> 00:35:08.060
- I read an article about the musician Moby,
- 00:35:08.060 --> 00:35:11.060
- who's had global success.
- 00:35:11.060 --> 00:35:12.240
- He wrote about it in a book with the title,
- 00:35:12.240 --> 00:35:15.080
- "And Then It Fell Apart".
- 00:35:15.080 --> 00:35:17.250
- In the book it says of his life, "Fame was golden platinum
- 00:35:17.250 --> 00:35:21.190
- "records stacked in the hallway of his small, Mod Street
- 00:35:21.190 --> 00:35:25.080
- "apartment in New York City.
- 00:35:25.080 --> 00:35:27.190
- "Fame was also lots of spontaneous sex, ecstasy, vodka,
- 00:35:27.190 --> 00:35:32.170
- "and anything else offered."
- 00:35:33.130 --> 00:35:35.280
- Some people are hearing this going, "That sounds awesome!"
- 00:35:37.110 --> 00:35:39.250
- Well it wasn't so awesome for Moby.
- 00:35:39.250 --> 00:35:43.050
- Because he found himself looking with envy on his friend,
- 00:35:43.050 --> 00:35:46.270
- Heath Ledger, who had died of a drug overdose not far
- 00:35:46.270 --> 00:35:51.130
- from where Moby was living.
- 00:35:51.130 --> 00:35:53.170
- One night, Moby pulled out a plastic bag,
- 00:35:53.170 --> 00:35:55.260
- put it over his head, fastened a belt at its base,
- 00:35:55.260 --> 00:35:58.260
- and closed his eyes, effectively attempting suicide.
- 00:35:58.260 --> 00:36:03.020
- Thankfully, he was not successful,
- 00:36:03.020 --> 00:36:06.250
- and went and sought treatment.
- 00:36:06.250 --> 00:36:09.010
- But maybe you've been so despondent
- 00:36:09.010 --> 00:36:10.230
- you've considered suicide.
- 00:36:10.230 --> 00:36:12.200
- Some of you listening to my message right now
- 00:36:12.200 --> 00:36:15.000
- have attempted suicide as well,
- 00:36:15.000 --> 00:36:19.040
- because you chased after everything this culture
- 00:36:19.040 --> 00:36:22.170
- has to offer, and you found it was empty.
- 00:36:22.170 --> 00:36:25.150
- You checked all the boxes, you got to the top,
- 00:36:25.150 --> 00:36:29.060
- and you found out there was nothing there.
- 00:36:29.060 --> 00:36:32.080
- What do you think is going to fill that hole in your soul?
- 00:36:32.080 --> 00:36:34.270
- Drugs?
- 00:36:34.270 --> 00:36:36.060
- Drinking?
- 00:36:36.060 --> 00:36:37.170
- Sex?
- 00:36:37.170 --> 00:36:38.270
- Some would say, "Fame!"
- 00:36:38.270 --> 00:36:40.150
- "Man, it's all about being famous."
- 00:36:40.150 --> 00:36:42.160
- "I want to be Instafamous."
- 00:36:42.160 --> 00:36:44.240
- "I want to be a YouTuber."
- 00:36:44.240 --> 00:36:47.020
- "I want to be an influencer."
- 00:36:47.020 --> 00:36:48.220
- Really?
- 00:36:48.220 --> 00:36:50.020
- I read a 2017 Forbes magazine report
- 00:36:50.020 --> 00:36:53.050
- that one in four Millennials would quit their jobs
- 00:36:53.050 --> 00:36:56.160
- to become famous.
- 00:36:56.160 --> 00:36:58.230
- Well, Belshazzar was famous, and he was powerful,
- 00:36:58.230 --> 00:37:02.280
- and now he was in trouble, because he sees
- 00:37:02.280 --> 00:37:06.030
- a hand writing on the wall.
- 00:37:07.080 --> 00:37:08.290
- It's interesting because it says his knees started knocking.
- 00:37:08.290 --> 00:37:13.110
- And one translator looking at this verse said
- 00:37:13.110 --> 00:37:17.030
- that he basically defecated.
- 00:37:17.030 --> 00:37:21.010
- You understand what I'm talking about.
- 00:37:21.010 --> 00:37:23.100
- Yes, he pooped in his pants.
- 00:37:23.100 --> 00:37:26.190
- If you saw a hand writing on the wall,
- 00:37:26.190 --> 00:37:30.030
- you might do the same thing.
- 00:37:30.030 --> 00:37:32.230
- It freaked him out.
- 00:37:32.230 --> 00:37:34.220
- And he didn't know what to do.
- 00:37:34.220 --> 00:37:37.060
- So he called in all these astrologers for advice,
- 00:37:37.060 --> 00:37:40.080
- and they didn't have anything to say.
- 00:37:40.080 --> 00:37:42.160
- And then someone said,
- 00:37:42.160 --> 00:37:43.240
- "Man, you better talk to your grandmother."
- 00:37:43.240 --> 00:37:45.200
- So Grandma comes walking in, and listen, she wasn't happy.
- 00:37:45.200 --> 00:37:49.180
- And if Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.
- 00:37:49.180 --> 00:37:53.160
- And Grandma, the wife of Nebuchadnezzar, said,
- 00:37:54.210 --> 00:37:58.180
- "Why haven't you called on the prophet Daniel?
- 00:37:58.180 --> 00:38:01.080
- "He really helped out your grandfather.
- 00:38:01.080 --> 00:38:05.080
- "Why don't you talk to him?"
- 00:38:05.080 --> 00:38:06.240
- "All right, bring the old dude in, I don't know what
- 00:38:06.240 --> 00:38:08.180
- "he's gonna have to say to me, I'm the young boy king."
- 00:38:08.180 --> 00:38:12.140
- So in comes Daniel.
- 00:38:12.140 --> 00:38:14.100
- He's around 90 years old.
- 00:38:14.100 --> 00:38:16.120
- He hadn't been doing much lately,
- 00:38:16.120 --> 00:38:18.160
- he had gone off all social media,
- 00:38:18.160 --> 00:38:21.230
- he was just kind of off the grid.
- 00:38:21.230 --> 00:38:23.270
- Daniel walks in, he looks on the wall,
- 00:38:23.270 --> 00:38:26.110
- he sees the writing, and he knows what it means!
- 00:38:26.110 --> 00:38:29.150
- And now he's going to tell the king what it's all about.
- 00:38:29.150 --> 00:38:34.050
- Now we read that Daniel says to him,
- 00:38:34.050 --> 00:38:36.230
- "El Belshazzar, you knew these things,
- 00:38:36.230 --> 00:38:40.110
- "and you've not humbled yourself."
- 00:38:40.110 --> 00:38:43.260
- Sometimes people ask the question,
- 00:38:43.260 --> 00:38:45.260
- "How could a God of love send someone to Hell?"
- 00:38:45.260 --> 00:38:50.240
- Well first of all, God will judge us according
- 00:38:50.240 --> 00:38:53.090
- to the light we have received.
- 00:38:53.090 --> 00:38:55.040
- But let me tell you something, the real issue people
- 00:38:55.040 --> 00:38:58.040
- are sometimes coming to talk about is,
- 00:38:58.040 --> 00:39:01.030
- "What about the person who's never heard the gospel before?
- 00:39:01.030 --> 00:39:04.150
- "Will God send them to Hell?"
- 00:39:04.150 --> 00:39:06.080
- Listen to me, the last thing God Almighty wants to do
- 00:39:06.080 --> 00:39:10.240
- is to send any man or any woman to Hell.
- 00:39:10.240 --> 00:39:15.090
- Hell was not made for people.
- 00:39:15.090 --> 00:39:18.030
- Hell was made for the devil, and his angels.
- 00:39:18.030 --> 00:39:21.280
- God wants you to go to Heaven.
- 00:39:21.280 --> 00:39:24.010
- That's why he sent his son Jesus Christ on a rescue mission
- 00:39:24.010 --> 00:39:28.040
- from Heaven to die on the cross and pay for your sins,
- 00:39:28.040 --> 00:39:31.220
- so you could go to Heaven.
- 00:39:31.220 --> 00:39:33.210
- (applause)
- 00:39:33.210 --> 00:39:35.280
- "Yeah but what about the person
- 00:39:38.150 --> 00:39:40.170
- "that's never heard the gospel?
- 00:39:40.170 --> 00:39:42.010
- "What will happen to them?
- 00:39:42.010 --> 00:39:43.160
- "You know, the person living in the middle of the desert."
- 00:39:43.160 --> 00:39:45.180
- There always living in the middle of a desert,
- 00:39:45.180 --> 00:39:47.150
- for some reason.
- 00:39:47.150 --> 00:39:49.020
- Hey, God will judge them according to the light
- 00:39:49.020 --> 00:39:51.040
- that they have received, but check this out,
- 00:39:51.040 --> 00:39:53.050
- knowledge brings responsibility,
- 00:39:53.050 --> 00:39:55.250
- and you're hearing the gospel tonight.
- 00:39:55.250 --> 00:39:59.030
- You say, "What is this thing, you say gospel?
- 00:39:59.030 --> 00:40:01.130
- "What is the gospel?"
- 00:40:01.130 --> 00:40:03.080
- First of all, the word gospel means good news.
- 00:40:03.080 --> 00:40:07.030
- Here's the gospel in a nutshell,
- 00:40:07.030 --> 00:40:09.090
- here's what I'm saying to you.
- 00:40:09.090 --> 00:40:10.160
- You were made by God in his image,
- 00:40:10.160 --> 00:40:15.000
- but the problem is, you're separated from God by your sin.
- 00:40:15.000 --> 00:40:18.270
- And everybody sins.
- 00:40:18.270 --> 00:40:20.110
- Some sin more than others, but everyone sins.
- 00:40:20.110 --> 00:40:24.200
- And that's why you have a hole in your heart.
- 00:40:24.200 --> 00:40:26.100
- That's why there's a void in your life.
- 00:40:26.100 --> 00:40:29.220
- That's why you're searching.
- 00:40:29.220 --> 00:40:31.060
- So that's the bad news; you've sinned, you've broken
- 00:40:31.060 --> 00:40:34.050
- God's commandments, you're separated from God.
- 00:40:34.050 --> 00:40:36.290
- But here's the good news.
- 00:40:36.290 --> 00:40:38.140
- God sent his son to die on the cross for your sin.
- 00:40:38.140 --> 00:40:42.010
- Because only Jesus Christ was uniquely qualified
- 00:40:42.010 --> 00:40:46.120
- to bridge the gap between holy, perfect God,
- 00:40:46.120 --> 00:40:50.070
- and unholy, imperfect humanity.
- 00:40:50.070 --> 00:40:53.170
- And with one hand, and the other hand on the cross,
- 00:40:53.170 --> 00:40:57.070
- spikes were driven through them, and with one hand
- 00:40:57.070 --> 00:41:00.110
- Jesus took hold of sinful people like us,
- 00:41:00.110 --> 00:41:02.220
- and he took hold of the holy hand of God,
- 00:41:02.220 --> 00:41:06.110
- and died there in our place.
- 00:41:06.110 --> 00:41:09.070
- Jesus came to pay a debt he did not owe
- 00:41:09.070 --> 00:41:11.110
- because we owed a debt we could not pay.
- 00:41:11.110 --> 00:41:16.110
- So, yes, you'll be held responsible for what you know.
- 00:41:17.220 --> 00:41:20.040
- So you can't leave here tonight and say,
- 00:41:20.040 --> 00:41:22.110
- "I never heard about Jesus, I never realized I needed
- 00:41:22.110 --> 00:41:25.020
- "to believe in Jesus."
- 00:41:25.020 --> 00:41:27.040
- Now you know.
- 00:41:27.040 --> 00:41:28.150
- So here's the writing on the wall.
- 00:41:28.150 --> 00:41:30.020
- The words were (speaking foreign language)
- 00:41:30.020 --> 00:41:33.050
- Daniel looks at it, and says,
- 00:41:33.050 --> 00:41:35.230
- "Okay man, this is not the best news.
- 00:41:35.230 --> 00:41:38.060
- "What this means is you've been weighed in God's scales,
- 00:41:38.060 --> 00:41:41.240
- "and you've been found lacking."
- 00:41:41.240 --> 00:41:44.210
- Yeah, that's it, party's over.
- 00:41:44.210 --> 00:41:48.110
- We read in Daniel that a gold chain was hung
- 00:41:49.170 --> 00:41:53.170
- around Daniel's neck and he was proclaimed
- 00:41:53.170 --> 00:41:56.090
- the third-highest ruler, but that night, Belshazzar,
- 00:41:56.090 --> 00:41:59.230
- the Babylonian king, was killed.
- 00:41:59.230 --> 00:42:02.270
- Listen, there's going to come a last night to every person.
- 00:42:02.270 --> 00:42:07.000
- And you're going to give what will be your last words.
- 00:42:07.000 --> 00:42:11.150
- You may not know that they're your last words,
- 00:42:11.150 --> 00:42:13.130
- but they will be.
- 00:42:13.130 --> 00:42:14.120
- It was too late for Belshazzar.
- 00:42:15.160 --> 00:42:17.220
- Now if he had turned to God at that moment,
- 00:42:17.220 --> 00:42:19.180
- God would have forgiven him, but he didn't.
- 00:42:19.180 --> 00:42:21.270
- And there's going to come a last moment,
- 00:42:21.270 --> 00:42:23.190
- and I wonder if there's not somebody here in this stadium,
- 00:42:23.190 --> 00:42:26.180
- or somebody hearing me, or watching me right now
- 00:42:26.180 --> 00:42:30.190
- that is hearing the gospel for the last time.
- 00:42:30.190 --> 00:42:33.280
- Someone's name is going to be one of those statistics
- 00:42:33.280 --> 00:42:37.020
- later tonight, or tomorrow, one of those people
- 00:42:37.020 --> 00:42:41.050
- who passed into eternity.
- 00:42:41.050 --> 00:42:43.200
- One day it's gonna be you, and one day it's gonna be me,
- 00:42:43.200 --> 00:42:46.230
- because the statistics on death are very impressive.
- 00:42:46.230 --> 00:42:50.250
- One out of every one persons will die.
- 00:42:50.250 --> 00:42:53.170
- But the Christian doesn't have to be afraid to die.
- 00:42:55.140 --> 00:42:58.260
- It's not that we look forward to it, we just don't
- 00:42:58.260 --> 00:43:00.270
- have to be afraid of it.
- 00:43:00.270 --> 00:43:02.220
- Because death was defeated at the cross
- 00:43:02.220 --> 00:43:06.150
- when Jesus died for us.
- 00:43:06.150 --> 00:43:08.090
- Death died when Christ rose.
- 00:43:08.090 --> 00:43:10.010
- (applause)
- 00:43:10.010 --> 00:43:12.080
- Oh sure, our bodies will be laid into the ground one day.
- 00:43:14.280 --> 00:43:17.270
- But our soul goes to Heaven,
- 00:43:17.270 --> 00:43:20.040
- because we put our faith to Christ.
- 00:43:20.040 --> 00:43:22.270
- That's why the Bible says,
- 00:43:22.270 --> 00:43:24.070
- "To live is Christ and to die is gain."
- 00:43:24.070 --> 00:43:28.190
- The writing on the wall.
- 00:43:28.190 --> 00:43:30.170
- Let me close with one story about another time
- 00:43:30.170 --> 00:43:33.220
- that God wrote.
- 00:43:33.220 --> 00:43:35.080
- This time it wasn't on a wall, this time it was in the sand.
- 00:43:35.080 --> 00:43:40.060
- It was a woman who was caught in the very sin of adultery.
- 00:43:41.190 --> 00:43:45.210
- They drug her and threw her down on the ground
- 00:43:46.260 --> 00:43:49.050
- in front of Jesus.
- 00:43:49.050 --> 00:43:50.170
- And they said, "The law says she should be condemned,
- 00:43:51.290 --> 00:43:55.050
- "what do you say?"
- 00:43:55.050 --> 00:43:56.290
- Jesus looked around, and the Bible says
- 00:43:56.290 --> 00:43:58.290
- he wrote on the ground.
- 00:43:58.290 --> 00:44:01.120
- We don't know what he wrote.
- 00:44:01.120 --> 00:44:03.010
- Then he stood up, and he said, "Let him that is without sin
- 00:44:03.010 --> 00:44:06.060
- "cast the first stone."
- 00:44:06.060 --> 00:44:08.070
- Then he stooped down and wrote on the ground again.
- 00:44:08.070 --> 00:44:11.010
- And the Bible says they left,
- 00:44:11.010 --> 00:44:13.040
- from the oldest to the youngest.
- 00:44:13.040 --> 00:44:15.060
- I wonder what he wrote.
- 00:44:15.060 --> 00:44:16.250
- I bet he wrote the names of some of them.
- 00:44:16.250 --> 00:44:19.090
- "Yeah, I see a Joshua, Joshua."
- 00:44:19.090 --> 00:44:21.170
- Maybe he wrote next to his name the sin he was committing
- 00:44:21.170 --> 00:44:24.230
- at that moment.
- 00:44:24.230 --> 00:44:26.240
- He cleared the house.
- 00:44:26.240 --> 00:44:28.170
- So here's this woman on the ground, and Jesus says to her,
- 00:44:28.170 --> 00:44:32.040
- "Woman," and by the way he used a very respectful term,
- 00:44:32.040 --> 00:44:35.230
- almost like saying lady or ma'am.
- 00:44:35.230 --> 00:44:38.260
- "Ma'am, lady, where are your accusers?"
- 00:44:38.260 --> 00:44:42.230
- She looks around, she says, "Lord, I don't have any."
- 00:44:42.230 --> 00:44:45.210
- He says, "Neither do I accuse you.
- 00:44:45.210 --> 00:44:48.290
- "Go and sin no more."
- 00:44:48.290 --> 00:44:51.170
- That's what Jesus will say to you tonight.
- 00:44:51.170 --> 00:44:54.260
- He can forgive you of all of your sin.
- 00:44:54.260 --> 00:44:57.020
- (applause)
- 00:44:57.020 --> 00:44:59.180
- In the story we're talking about in the book of Daniel,
- 00:44:59.180 --> 00:45:02.120
- God wrote on the wall.
- 00:45:02.120 --> 00:45:03.280
- In the story I just told you, God wrote in the sand.
- 00:45:03.280 --> 00:45:06.290
- God can write a new ending to your story right now.
- 00:45:06.290 --> 00:45:11.290
- The Bible says we live our life a like a story
- 00:45:13.120 --> 00:45:15.200
- that's being told, and the way that you're living
- 00:45:15.200 --> 00:45:18.060
- your life right now, it looks like your story is going to be
- 00:45:18.060 --> 00:45:20.280
- a tragedy.
- 00:45:20.280 --> 00:45:22.170
- But God can change your story.
- 00:45:22.170 --> 00:45:24.270
- God can change everything.
- 00:45:24.270 --> 00:45:26.170
- But you must come to him and say, "Lord, I need your help.
- 00:45:28.000 --> 00:45:30.180
- "I need your forgiveness."
- 00:45:30.180 --> 00:45:32.240
- You say, "Okay, what do I need to do?"
- 00:45:32.240 --> 00:45:36.160
- If you haven't listened to anything else I've said,
- 00:45:37.290 --> 00:45:40.050
- just listen to me for a moment.
- 00:45:40.050 --> 00:45:42.000
- If you want to have your sin forgiven,
- 00:45:42.000 --> 00:45:46.060
- if you want to fill that hole in your heart,
- 00:45:47.190 --> 00:45:50.050
- if you want to have your guilt removed,
- 00:45:50.050 --> 00:45:53.160
- if you want to know that you'll go to Heaven one day,
- 00:45:53.160 --> 00:45:56.080
- here's what you need to do.
- 00:45:56.080 --> 00:45:57.190
- Number one, admit you're a sinner.
- 00:45:58.250 --> 00:46:00.240
- Some people choke on that word.
- 00:46:01.240 --> 00:46:03.090
- "Oh, maybe I'm sick, maybe I have some kind of a disease."
- 00:46:03.090 --> 00:46:08.030
- No, you're a sinner.
- 00:46:08.270 --> 00:46:10.290
- The Bible says all have sinned and fallen short
- 00:46:10.290 --> 00:46:13.010
- of the glory of God.
- 00:46:13.010 --> 00:46:14.160
- Everyone of us have broken his commandments.
- 00:46:14.160 --> 00:46:16.160
- You say, "Well, I haven't broken that many."
- 00:46:16.160 --> 00:46:19.240
- Yeah but, the Bible says if you offend in one point
- 00:46:19.240 --> 00:46:22.230
- of the law, you're guilty of all of it.
- 00:46:22.230 --> 00:46:25.030
- The wages of sin are death.
- 00:46:25.030 --> 00:46:27.050
- Point number two, realize that Jesus Christ died
- 00:46:27.050 --> 00:46:31.080
- on the cross for you.
- 00:46:31.080 --> 00:46:32.240
- That's why he died for you, because there's nothing you or I
- 00:46:32.240 --> 00:46:36.090
- can do to meet the righteous standards of God,
- 00:46:36.090 --> 00:46:39.270
- so God reached down to us, and Christ died for us.
- 00:46:39.270 --> 00:46:44.270
- Jesus said, "For God so loved the world he gave
- 00:46:46.030 --> 00:46:47.280
- "his only begotten son, and whosoever believes in him
- 00:46:47.280 --> 00:46:51.050
- "should not perish, but have everlasting life."
- 00:46:51.050 --> 00:46:55.180
- That's why Jesus died.
- 00:46:55.180 --> 00:46:57.110
- They didn't take his life from him.
- 00:46:57.110 --> 00:46:59.160
- He laid it down, he died in our place voluntarily.
- 00:46:59.160 --> 00:47:04.180
- Nails did not hold Christ to that cross 2.000 years ago,
- 00:47:06.020 --> 00:47:09.190
- love did!
- 00:47:09.190 --> 00:47:11.100
- Love for you, he died for you!
- 00:47:11.100 --> 00:47:14.040
- Number three, you need to repent of your sin.
- 00:47:14.040 --> 00:47:17.120
- You might say,
- 00:47:17.120 --> 00:47:18.190
- "I don't even know what that means, to repent.
- 00:47:18.190 --> 00:47:20.270
- "I don't even know if I've pented, how do I repent?"
- 00:47:20.270 --> 00:47:24.010
- Repent just means change your direction.
- 00:47:25.100 --> 00:47:28.140
- It's actually a military term.
- 00:47:28.140 --> 00:47:30.220
- It means about-face, turn around.
- 00:47:30.220 --> 00:47:34.200
- Instead of going away from God, go to God.
- 00:47:34.200 --> 00:47:37.270
- Instead of running from God, run to God.
- 00:47:37.270 --> 00:47:42.100
- Turn away from that old sin.
- 00:47:42.100 --> 00:47:44.180
- Then fourthly, you must receive Christ into your life.
- 00:47:44.180 --> 00:47:48.120
- Being a Christian, it's not a religious thing.
- 00:47:48.120 --> 00:47:52.130
- I'm not a religious person, I don't want to be a religious
- 00:47:52.130 --> 00:47:56.190
- person because religious people are weird.
- 00:47:56.190 --> 00:48:00.290
- But I am a person who has a relationship with God.
- 00:48:03.020 --> 00:48:07.000
- And the way that happened, and you are too, many of you,
- 00:48:07.000 --> 00:48:10.240
- (applause)
- 00:48:10.240 --> 00:48:13.020
- and the way that happened, is when I just realized
- 00:48:14.180 --> 00:48:17.260
- I need Good in my life, and I asked Jesus to forgive me
- 00:48:17.260 --> 00:48:22.020
- of my sin, and he came to live inside of me, yes.
- 00:48:22.020 --> 00:48:24.280
- The Bible says, "For as many as received him,
- 00:48:24.280 --> 00:48:28.100
- "he gave them the power to become sons of God."
- 00:48:28.100 --> 00:48:31.090
- You receive him, it's like a gift.
- 00:48:31.090 --> 00:48:34.190
- If I were to give you a gift tonight, and say,
- 00:48:34.190 --> 00:48:36.090
- "Hey, I got you a gift," receive the gift.
- 00:48:36.090 --> 00:48:39.260
- God is offering to you tonight the gift of eternal life,
- 00:48:39.260 --> 00:48:44.000
- and all you have to do is receive it for yourself.
- 00:48:44.000 --> 00:48:47.000
- (applause)
- 00:48:47.000 --> 00:48:49.070
- Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock,
- 00:48:51.240 --> 00:48:54.190
- "and if you'll hear my voice and open the door,
- 00:48:54.190 --> 00:48:57.090
- "I will come in."
- 00:48:57.090 --> 00:48:59.180
- Then you must do it publicly.
- 00:48:59.180 --> 00:49:01.060
- Do it publicly.
- 00:49:02.080 --> 00:49:03.080
- So let's pray together.
- 00:49:04.130 --> 00:49:05.280
- Now, Lord, I pray for every person here in this place,
- 00:49:05.280 --> 00:49:08.280
- and every person that is listening and watching,
- 00:49:08.280 --> 00:49:11.080
- wherever they are.
- 00:49:11.080 --> 00:49:12.230
- Let this be the moment that your Holy Spirit convicts them,
- 00:49:12.230 --> 00:49:17.140
- and convinces them of their need for Jesus Christ.
- 00:49:17.140 --> 00:49:21.030
- And let this be the moment that they come to you
- 00:49:21.030 --> 00:49:25.040
- and believe.
- 00:49:25.040 --> 00:49:26.170
- We ask this all in Jesus' name, amen.
- 00:49:26.170 --> 00:49:30.080
- Listen very carefully, if you want your sin forgiven,
- 00:49:30.080 --> 00:49:34.130
- if you want to know that when you die you will go to Heaven,
- 00:49:34.130 --> 00:49:38.170
- if you want your guilt taken away,
- 00:49:38.170 --> 00:49:41.250
- if you want to find the meaning and purpose of life
- 00:49:41.250 --> 00:49:44.290
- that you've been searching for,
- 00:49:44.290 --> 00:49:47.050
- or if you've fallen away from the Lord,
- 00:49:47.050 --> 00:49:49.190
- if you've messed up and stumbled and fallen,
- 00:49:49.190 --> 00:49:52.200
- and you need to come back to him again,
- 00:49:52.200 --> 00:49:55.010
- I'm going to ask you wherever you are in this stadium,
- 00:49:55.010 --> 00:49:57.170
- to quickly get up out of your seat,
- 00:49:57.170 --> 00:49:59.280
- find your way to the nearest aisle,
- 00:49:59.280 --> 00:50:01.270
- and come down to this field.
- 00:50:01.270 --> 00:50:04.030
- And when you all get here, we're going to pray together.
- 00:50:04.030 --> 00:50:07.170
- This is the most important decision
- 00:50:07.170 --> 00:50:09.210
- you're ever going to make.
- 00:50:09.210 --> 00:50:10.250
- (electric guitar)
- 00:50:10.250 --> 00:50:13.200
- You make it easy to love you
- 00:50:27.090 --> 00:50:32.060
- You are good and you are kind
- 00:50:33.230 --> 00:50:37.210
- You bring joy into my life
- 00:50:37.210 --> 00:50:42.170
- You make it easy to trust you, every day you do
- 00:50:42.170 --> 00:50:47.170
- You have never left my side
- 00:50:49.200 --> 00:50:53.060
- You've been faithful every time
- 00:50:53.060 --> 00:50:57.280
- All I want is you, Jesus
- 00:50:57.280 --> 00:51:03.000
- All I want is you, yes I do
- 00:51:05.260 --> 00:51:10.260
- You are the refuge I run to
- 00:51:13.160 --> 00:51:17.140
- You are the fire that leads me through the night
- 00:51:17.140 --> 00:51:22.140
- I'll follow you anywhere
- 00:51:23.120 --> 00:51:28.020
- There's a million reasons to trust you
- 00:51:29.090 --> 00:51:32.280
- Nothing to fear, for you are by my side
- 00:51:32.280 --> 00:51:37.280
- Yes, I'll follow you anywhere
- 00:51:39.040 --> 00:51:43.080
- Yes, I'll follow you anywhere
- 00:51:46.070 --> 00:51:51.070
- Wherever you lead me
- 00:51:55.140 --> 00:51:58.220
- Whatever it costs me
- 00:51:58.220 --> 00:52:03.220
- All I want is you
- 00:52:03.220 --> 00:52:07.150
- Jesus, all I want is you
- 00:52:07.150 --> 00:52:11.120
- Wherever you lead me
- 00:52:11.120 --> 00:52:15.020
- Whatever it costs me
- 00:52:15.020 --> 00:52:19.070
- All I want is you
- 00:52:19.070 --> 00:52:22.170
- Jesus, all I want is you
- 00:52:22.170 --> 00:52:26.190
- - Hello everybody.
- 00:52:26.190 --> 00:52:28.140
- You've made the right decision tonight,
- 00:52:30.110 --> 00:52:34.110
- to follow Jesus Christ.
- 00:52:34.110 --> 00:52:36.100
- You sure have.
- 00:52:38.190 --> 00:52:39.270
- (applause)
- 00:52:39.270 --> 00:52:42.280
- And in a moment I'm going to lead you in a prayer,
- 00:52:42.280 --> 00:52:45.290
- it's a very simple prayer.
- 00:52:45.290 --> 00:52:48.150
- And I'm gonna ask you to just pray it out loud, after me.
- 00:52:48.150 --> 00:52:52.020
- This is where you're asking Jesus Christ
- 00:52:52.020 --> 00:52:54.150
- to come in your life.
- 00:52:54.150 --> 00:52:56.060
- You see, it's a prayer only you can pray.
- 00:52:56.060 --> 00:52:59.020
- Your parents can't pray it for you,
- 00:52:59.020 --> 00:53:01.020
- your friends can't pray it for you,
- 00:53:02.070 --> 00:53:03.240
- you need to say, "Jesus come into my life."
- 00:53:03.240 --> 00:53:06.190
- He will hear this prayer, and he will answer this prayer.
- 00:53:06.190 --> 00:53:09.230
- So let's all bow our heads, and pray this out loud,
- 00:53:11.050 --> 00:53:14.220
- after me.
- 00:53:14.220 --> 00:53:16.060
- Pray these words, "Lord Jesus, I know that I'm a sinner,
- 00:53:16.060 --> 00:53:20.180
- "but I know that you're the savior who died on the cross
- 00:53:22.020 --> 00:53:26.060
- "for my sin, and paid the price for all of it.
- 00:53:27.110 --> 00:53:31.190
- "And you rose again from the dead.
- 00:53:32.220 --> 00:53:35.250
- "Now Jesus, come into my life, I choose to follow you,
- 00:53:35.250 --> 00:53:40.250
- "from this night forward, as my Savior, as my Lord,
- 00:53:42.090 --> 00:53:46.040
- "as my God, as my friend.
- 00:53:48.060 --> 00:53:52.160
- "In Jesus' name I pray, amen."
- 00:53:52.160 --> 00:53:56.050
- (cheering)
- 00:53:56.050 --> 00:53:58.110
- Amen, God bless you!
- 00:53:58.110 --> 00:53:59.170
- And welcome to the family of God!
- 00:53:59.170 --> 00:54:02.090
- (cheering)
- 00:54:02.090 --> 00:54:04.160
- I talked about the angels in Heaven.
- 00:54:07.270 --> 00:54:10.060
- The Bible says that there's joy in the presence
- 00:54:10.060 --> 00:54:13.110
- of the angels over one sinner that comes to Jesus.
- 00:54:13.110 --> 00:54:17.240
- God bless you.
- 00:54:17.240 --> 00:54:19.070
- (swiping)
- 00:54:19.070 --> 00:54:21.120
- - Wow, Pastor Greg, tonight was absolutely amazing.
- 00:54:22.240 --> 00:54:25.040
- I want to tell you thank you so much, I really could feel
- 00:54:25.040 --> 00:54:29.220
- the Spirit of God here.
- 00:54:29.220 --> 00:54:31.110
- I believe there's a lot of people that are watching,
- 00:54:31.110 --> 00:54:33.280
- and maybe they're still kinda on the fence,
- 00:54:33.280 --> 00:54:36.050
- and they're ready to take that next step.
- 00:54:36.050 --> 00:54:37.240
- - Right.
- 00:54:37.240 --> 00:54:39.080
- Well let me just say to you that are watching, maybe you're
- 00:54:39.080 --> 00:54:42.030
- just watching this at this moment thinking,
- 00:54:42.030 --> 00:54:45.110
- "I do feel hopeless."
- 00:54:45.110 --> 00:54:48.010
- Look, there's hope.
- 00:54:48.010 --> 00:54:49.170
- Hope is on the way, and hope has a name, and it's Jesus.
- 00:54:49.170 --> 00:54:53.080
- That's who you need.
- 00:54:53.080 --> 00:54:54.140
- Not religion, not even church.
- 00:54:54.140 --> 00:54:57.110
- You need Jesus, that's where it starts.
- 00:54:57.110 --> 00:54:59.250
- It's a relationship with God.
- 00:54:59.250 --> 00:55:02.100
- And you know what?
- 00:55:02.100 --> 00:55:03.050
- He's just a prayer away.
- 00:55:03.050 --> 00:55:05.040
- So you need to just simply say,
- 00:55:05.040 --> 00:55:08.000
- "Jesus, come into my life and forgive me
- 00:55:08.000 --> 00:55:10.140
- "of my sin right now."
- 00:55:10.140 --> 00:55:12.110
- What I'll do, if it's okay, Jay, is maybe I'll lead
- 00:55:12.110 --> 00:55:15.290
- someone in a prayer that's watching, and you can
- 00:55:15.290 --> 00:55:19.010
- pray along with me, kind of what they should do,
- 00:55:19.010 --> 00:55:21.130
- so you that are watching, follow Jay's lead,
- 00:55:21.130 --> 00:55:24.160
- as he prays, and if you pray this prayer with me,
- 00:55:24.160 --> 00:55:27.080
- this is a prayer where you're asking Christ
- 00:55:27.080 --> 00:55:29.100
- to come into your life.
- 00:55:29.100 --> 00:55:30.180
- So just pray right now, pray this, "Lord Jesus,"
- 00:55:30.180 --> 00:55:33.010
- - Lord Jesus
- 00:55:33.010 --> 00:55:33.290
- - "I know that I'm a sinner,"
- 00:55:33.290 --> 00:55:34.290
- - I know that I'm a sinner,
- 00:55:34.290 --> 00:55:36.020
- - "And I'm sorry for my sin"
- 00:55:36.020 --> 00:55:37.220
- - And I'm sorry for my sin
- 00:55:37.220 --> 00:55:38.200
- - "And I turn from it now"
- 00:55:38.200 --> 00:55:39.270
- - [Jay] And I turn from it now
- 00:55:39.270 --> 00:55:40.290
- - "And I choose to follow you"
- 00:55:40.290 --> 00:55:42.230
- - [Jay] And I choose to follow you
- 00:55:42.230 --> 00:55:44.010
- - "From this moment forward"
- 00:55:44.010 --> 00:55:45.140
- - [Jay] From this moment forward
- 00:55:45.140 --> 00:55:46.120
- - "As my Savior and Lord"
- 00:55:46.120 --> 00:55:47.270
- - As my Savior and Lord
- 00:55:47.270 --> 00:55:48.290
- - "As my God and friend."
- 00:55:48.290 --> 00:55:50.110
- - As my God and friend.
- 00:55:50.110 --> 00:55:51.170
- - "Thank you for hearing this prayer"
- 00:55:51.170 --> 00:55:53.020
- - Thank you for hearing this prayer
- 00:55:53.020 --> 00:55:54.090
- - "And answering it"
- 00:55:54.090 --> 00:55:55.060
- - And answering it
- 00:55:55.060 --> 00:55:56.040
- - "In Jesus' name I pray"
- 00:55:56.040 --> 00:55:56.280
- - In Jesus' name I pray
- 00:55:56.280 --> 00:55:58.060
- - "Amen"
- 00:55:58.060 --> 00:55:59.010
- - [Jay] Amen.
- 00:55:59.010 --> 00:56:00.080
- Wow.
- 00:56:00.080 --> 00:56:01.060
- - It's as simple as that, Jay.
- 00:56:01.060 --> 00:56:01.280
- - [Jay] It is.
- 00:56:01.280 --> 00:56:02.260
- - It's as simple as that.
- 00:56:02.260 --> 00:56:04.030
- - Thank you for tuning in tonight,
- 00:56:04.030 --> 00:56:05.190
- on behalf of Pastor Greg, Harvest Crusade, and TBN.
- 00:56:05.190 --> 00:56:07.050
- (swiping)
- 00:56:07.050 --> 00:56:08.080
- Goodnight.
- 00:56:08.080 --> 00:56:09.160
- It's your breath in our lungs
- 00:56:09.160 --> 00:56:14.040
- So we pour out our praise
- 00:56:15.010 --> 00:56:17.130
- Pour out our praise
- 00:56:17.130 --> 00:56:19.140
- It's your breath in our lungs
- 00:56:19.140 --> 00:56:24.080
- So we pour out our praise,
- 00:56:24.080 --> 00:56:26.190
- We pour out our praise
- 00:56:26.190 --> 00:56:29.100
- It's your breath in our lungs
- 00:56:29.100 --> 00:56:33.210
- So we pour out our praise
- 00:56:33.210 --> 00:56:36.290
- Pour out our praise
- 00:56:36.290 --> 00:56:38.260
- It's your breath in our lungs
- 00:56:38.260 --> 00:56:43.110
- So we pour out our praise
- 00:56:43.110 --> 00:56:46.220
- Pour out our praise
- 00:56:46.220 --> 00:56:49.120
- And all the earth will shout your praise
- 00:56:49.120 --> 00:56:53.240
- Our hearts will cry these bones will sing
- 00:56:53.240 --> 00:56:58.240
- We sing, "Great, how great is the Lord!"
- 00:57:00.030 --> 00:57:04.030
- All the Earth will shout your praise
- 00:57:08.050 --> 00:57:13.050
- Our hearts will cry these bones will sing
- 00:57:14.100 --> 00:57:18.100
- We sing, "Great are you Lord!"
- 00:57:19.160 --> 00:57:22.180
