  • Creflo Dollar: Why is Jesus redeeming people from under
  • 00:00:05.060 --> 00:00:07.020
  • the law when he was born under the law if it
  • 00:00:07.030 --> 00:00:11.010
  • was okay to live under the law?
  • 00:00:11.020 --> 00:00:13.090
  • He just said Jesus was made under the law for what purpose?
  • 00:00:13.100 --> 00:00:16.160
  • To deliver those who were under the law from the law that they
  • 00:00:16.170 --> 00:00:21.110
  • might receive the adoption of sons because under the law you
  • 00:00:21.120 --> 00:00:25.070
  • were a servant, but under grace you are a son.

  • with the message of grace and biblical equality.
  • 00:00:33.100 --> 00:00:36.040
  • Souls are being saved and lives are being transformed
  • 00:00:36.050 --> 00:00:39.150
  • all around the world.

  • 00:00:44.020 --> 00:00:45.160
  • it really does make a difference in people's lives.
  • 00:00:45.170 --> 00:00:48.080
  • There's so many people, too many for them to count of how
  • 00:00:48.090 --> 00:00:51.270
  • their lives have been impacted.
  • 00:00:51.280 --> 00:00:53.110

  • Call, text, or go online to register today.
  • 00:00:55.120 --> 00:00:58.250
  • This is your world
  • 00:01:00.270 --> 00:01:03.130
  • so let's vow to make it a better place
  • 00:01:03.140 --> 00:01:08.280
  • Let every heart that needs to know
  • 00:01:08.290 --> 00:01:13.220
  • your love is here to stay
  • 00:01:13.230 --> 00:01:16.080
  • Oh, it's time to live a new life
  • 00:01:16.090 --> 00:01:20.070
  • Oh, let his love shine bright in you
  • 00:01:20.080 --> 00:01:24.150
  • Oh, we're saved by his grace
  • 00:01:24.160 --> 00:01:27.210
  • so we embrace your love today
  • 00:01:27.220 --> 00:01:31.070
  • We are changed.
  • 00:01:31.080 --> 00:01:35.100
  • Creflo: I want to continue to talk about "Looking through
  • 00:01:36.170 --> 00:01:40.150
  • the Lens of Grace."
  • 00:01:40.160 --> 00:01:43.100
  • The more and more I talk about it,
  • 00:01:43.110 --> 00:01:45.040
  • the more I feel like I get a liberty and a boldness to
  • 00:01:45.050 --> 00:01:49.080
  • say more and more.
  • 00:01:49.090 --> 00:01:51.250
  • And, you know, last night when I was teaching in Miami,
  • 00:01:51.260 --> 00:01:55.270
  • I told Taffi if she would just keep up with the sequence
  • 00:01:55.280 --> 00:01:59.260
  • of Scriptures that I would use because it is difficult to
  • 00:01:59.270 --> 00:02:04.150
  • discover that maybe most of your Christian life you've not quite
  • 00:02:04.160 --> 00:02:10.080
  • heard it in the right way or understood it in the right way.
  • 00:02:10.090 --> 00:02:14.070
  • I just believe things are about to change all over the world,
  • 00:02:14.080 --> 00:02:18.200
  • and I think that we as Christians we've got
  • 00:02:18.210 --> 00:02:22.010
  • to get this right.
  • 00:02:22.020 --> 00:02:24.000
  • We've got to get this right.
  • 00:02:24.010 --> 00:02:26.130
  • And so I'm going to go at it again.
  • 00:02:26.140 --> 00:02:29.100
  • So let's look at this tonight.
  • 00:02:29.110 --> 00:02:31.050
  • John chapter 1, verse 14.
  • 00:02:31.060 --> 00:02:34.080
  • All right, so St. John chapter 1 and verse 14.
  • 00:02:34.090 --> 00:02:39.110
  • Let's read verse 14 out loud together.
  • 00:02:39.120 --> 00:02:42.060
  • Ready? Read.
  • 00:02:42.070 --> 00:02:43.210
  • "And the Word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us,
  • 00:02:43.220 --> 00:02:47.090
  • and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten
  • 00:02:47.100 --> 00:02:51.210
  • of the Father, full of grace and truth."
  • 00:02:51.220 --> 00:02:55.220
  • Now, let's examine this Scripture.
  • 00:02:55.230 --> 00:02:57.100
  • The Word was made flesh. Who's that referring to?
  • 00:02:57.110 --> 00:03:00.260
  • And he dwelt amongst us, and we beheld his glory,
  • 00:03:00.270 --> 00:03:05.000
  • the glory of the only begotten of the Father.
  • 00:03:05.010 --> 00:03:07.120
  • Who's the only begotten of the Father?
  • 00:03:07.130 --> 00:03:10.120
  • Jesus, and what is this saying about Jesus?
  • 00:03:10.130 --> 00:03:13.070
  • That he is what? Full of grace.
  • 00:03:13.080 --> 00:03:16.290
  • Now, seems like it bothers you if you just say full of grace,
  • 00:03:17.000 --> 00:03:19.200
  • but not say full of grace and truth as if truth
  • 00:03:19.210 --> 00:03:21.150
  • is another entity involved.
  • 00:03:21.160 --> 00:03:23.250
  • I'm perfectly fine with saying Jesus full of grace, why?
  • 00:03:23.260 --> 00:03:30.020
  • Because grace is the truth.
  • 00:03:30.030 --> 00:03:32.290
  • If you remember your English grammar and you remember the
  • 00:03:33.000 --> 00:03:39.040
  • use of conjunctions, and when this was translated or whatever
  • 00:03:39.050 --> 00:03:44.110
  • it is on one side of the conjunction is in relationship
  • 00:03:44.120 --> 00:03:47.080
  • with what's on the other side of the conjunction.
  • 00:03:47.090 --> 00:03:50.040
  • Grace and truth.
  • 00:03:50.050 --> 00:03:52.050
  • Now, I want to show you how important it is for us to
  • 00:03:52.060 --> 00:03:56.030
  • understand this because right here Jesus is full
  • 00:03:56.040 --> 00:03:59.090
  • of grace and truth.
  • 00:03:59.100 --> 00:04:00.290
  • If Jesus is full of grace and truth,
  • 00:04:01.000 --> 00:04:02.140
  • then grace can no longer just be a curriculum.
  • 00:04:02.150 --> 00:04:05.000
  • Grace can no longer just be a subject matter.
  • 00:04:05.010 --> 00:04:09.260
  • You can't take grace and do it like Christians have done with
  • 00:04:09.270 --> 00:04:12.030
  • so many other things.
  • 00:04:12.040 --> 00:04:13.160
  • We turned it into just a principle and we leave
  • 00:04:13.170 --> 00:04:16.000
  • the person out.
  • 00:04:16.010 --> 00:04:18.080
  • This is a place where I don't want you to do this.
  • 00:04:18.090 --> 00:04:20.220
  • Every time you hear grace, I want you to think in your mind,
  • 00:04:20.230 --> 00:04:23.270
  • I want you to meditate and translate Jesus
  • 00:04:23.280 --> 00:04:28.130
  • because grace is about a person.
  • 00:04:28.140 --> 00:04:31.130
  • His name is Jesus.
  • 00:04:31.140 --> 00:04:33.260
  • Grace is about a person. His name is Jesus.
  • 00:04:33.270 --> 00:04:39.140
  • And tonight as I teach, I'm going to use it interchangeably
  • 00:04:39.150 --> 00:04:42.110
  • so that I can get your thinking away from just subject matter to
  • 00:04:42.120 --> 00:04:46.060
  • person, the person of Jesus, Jesus full of grace and truth.
  • 00:04:46.070 --> 00:04:53.040
  • So when I say that by grace are you saved,
  • 00:04:53.050 --> 00:04:57.040
  • I'm going to say by Jesus you're saved.
  • 00:04:57.050 --> 00:05:00.030
  • When I say by grace you're healed,
  • 00:05:00.040 --> 00:05:02.070
  • I'm going to say by Jesus you're healed.
  • 00:05:02.080 --> 00:05:04.200
  • I want to put the person back in the gospel.
  • 00:05:04.210 --> 00:05:08.130
  • I don't want to abstract the principles out of the gospel,
  • 00:05:08.140 --> 00:05:11.180
  • and then after we finish we just got a bunch of principles and we
  • 00:05:11.190 --> 00:05:13.250
  • left the person behind.
  • 00:05:13.260 --> 00:05:16.070
  • You're going to see tonight that this is all about the person
  • 00:05:16.080 --> 00:05:19.070
  • Jesus Christ, and I want to refocus you back to the person
  • 00:05:19.080 --> 00:05:24.050
  • of Jesus 'cause this is all about Jesus.
  • 00:05:24.060 --> 00:05:28.190
  • Everything that we will be, everything that will come,
  • 00:05:28.200 --> 00:05:32.010
  • everything that will happen that's good is because of the
  • 00:05:32.020 --> 00:05:34.100
  • person Jesus who was full of grace.
  • 00:05:34.110 --> 00:05:37.180
  • Here is the true nature of Jesus: full of grace,
  • 00:05:37.190 --> 00:05:44.140
  • full of grace.
  • 00:05:44.150 --> 00:05:46.210
  • What is grace?
  • 00:05:46.220 --> 00:05:47.280
  • It is the unmerited, unearned favor of God,
  • 00:05:47.290 --> 00:05:53.160
  • and everything we have as a result of Jesus--now watch this.
  • 00:05:53.170 --> 00:05:57.110
  • Everything we have as a result of grace,
  • 00:05:57.120 --> 00:05:59.280
  • everything we have as a result of Jesus--you see that?
  • 00:05:59.290 --> 00:06:04.120
  • Faith can't even do anything unless Jesus has done it.
  • 00:06:04.130 --> 00:06:09.210
  • Grace makes, faith takes. Jesus makes, faith takes.
  • 00:06:09.220 --> 00:06:15.280
  • If it were not for Jesus, you wouldn't need faith.
  • 00:06:15.290 --> 00:06:19.080
  • Faith is a positive response to what grace has already done.
  • 00:06:19.090 --> 00:06:23.290
  • Faith appropriates what Jesus has already done, okay?
  • 00:06:24.000 --> 00:06:30.020
  • So now why do I use this thing with grace and truth?
  • 00:06:30.030 --> 00:06:33.160
  • Let's clear that up right quick.
  • 00:06:33.170 --> 00:06:35.040
  • Go to John chapter 8, verse 31.
  • 00:06:35.050 --> 00:06:39.100
  • St. John chapter 8 and verse 31.
  • 00:06:39.110 --> 00:06:43.040
  • Now, this is important as well.
  • 00:06:43.050 --> 00:06:45.040
  • St. John 8:31. What does he mean?
  • 00:06:45.050 --> 00:06:49.260
  • Why does he use grace and truth?
  • 00:06:49.270 --> 00:06:52.140
  • Verse 31, "Then said Jesus to those Jews
  • 00:06:52.150 --> 00:06:55.240
  • which believed on him."
  • 00:06:55.250 --> 00:06:57.260
  • Now, it's very important that Jesus mention who
  • 00:06:57.270 --> 00:07:01.090
  • he was talking to: Jews.
  • 00:07:01.100 --> 00:07:03.230
  • Jewish people are under the law. They studied the law.
  • 00:07:03.240 --> 00:07:10.170
  • A Jewish male would be under the law,
  • 00:07:10.180 --> 00:07:13.290
  • he would study the law, and then they would celebrate that by
  • 00:07:14.000 --> 00:07:17.170
  • having what they would call a bar mitzvahs.
  • 00:07:17.180 --> 00:07:20.120
  • And so what Jesus was saying--he says,
  • 00:07:20.130 --> 00:07:23.010
  • "Then said Jesus to those who were under the law."
  • 00:07:23.020 --> 00:07:26.070
  • Jewish people were under the law.
  • 00:07:26.080 --> 00:07:28.080
  • The old covenant was a covenant agreement
  • 00:07:28.090 --> 00:07:30.150
  • between God and Jewish people.
  • 00:07:30.160 --> 00:07:32.180
  • So then said Jesus to those Jews who were under the law--that's
  • 00:07:32.190 --> 00:07:36.270
  • why he mentioned that they were Jews,
  • 00:07:36.280 --> 00:07:38.280
  • those Jews which are under the law which believed on him.
  • 00:07:38.290 --> 00:07:42.150
  • So there were Jewish people who were under
  • 00:07:42.160 --> 00:07:44.200
  • the law who believed on Jesus.
  • 00:07:44.210 --> 00:07:46.170
  • And he said--Jesus says, "If you continue my word,
  • 00:07:46.180 --> 00:07:48.080
  • then are you my disciples indeed and you shall know the truth and
  • 00:07:48.090 --> 00:07:52.120
  • the truth shall make you free."
  • 00:07:52.130 --> 00:07:56.080
  • Question: free from what? The law.
  • 00:07:56.090 --> 00:08:01.210
  • That's why he indicated he's talking to Jews.
  • 00:08:01.220 --> 00:08:03.250
  • "You are students of the law, but you believe in me.
  • 00:08:03.260 --> 00:08:07.210
  • Now, if you'll continue in this, I'll make
  • 00:08:07.220 --> 00:08:11.120
  • you free from the law."
  • 00:08:11.130 --> 00:08:13.130
  • That's what he was talking about.
  • 00:08:13.140 --> 00:08:14.250
  • But what was it--what did they do to deserve
  • 00:08:14.260 --> 00:08:18.130
  • to be free from the law?
  • 00:08:18.140 --> 00:08:20.150
  • Nothing.
  • 00:08:20.160 --> 00:08:22.030
  • They believed, but what did they do?
  • 00:08:22.040 --> 00:08:24.170
  • What action of their own did they perform in order to deserve
  • 00:08:24.180 --> 00:08:27.270
  • to be free from the law?
  • 00:08:27.280 --> 00:08:29.230
  • Nothing.
  • 00:08:29.240 --> 00:08:31.070
  • They just believed in Jesus, right?
  • 00:08:31.080 --> 00:08:33.030
  • Oh, man.
  • 00:08:33.040 --> 00:08:34.110
  • And so what was it that's responsible for
  • 00:08:34.120 --> 00:08:36.130
  • making them free?
  • 00:08:36.140 --> 00:08:37.250
  • Come on, say it. Grace.
  • 00:08:37.260 --> 00:08:40.100
  • So what's the truth that Jesus is talking about?
  • 00:08:40.110 --> 00:08:43.220
  • Grace.
  • 00:08:43.230 --> 00:08:45.150
  • So grace--say this after me and listen to
  • 00:08:45.160 --> 00:08:47.090
  • yourself when you say this.
  • 00:08:47.100 --> 00:08:48.160
  • Say, "Grace is the truth that makes men free.
  • 00:08:48.170 --> 00:08:54.050
  • Grace is the truth. Grace is the truth."
  • 00:08:54.060 --> 00:08:59.240
  • So now watch this. Look what happens now.
  • 00:08:59.250 --> 00:09:02.010
  • You go to church and people talk to you about the truth,
  • 00:09:02.020 --> 00:09:05.020
  • but they don't know it's grace and they're thinking it's some
  • 00:09:05.030 --> 00:09:09.010
  • Bible story that you read in the Bible and say,
  • 00:09:09.020 --> 00:09:11.140
  • "Oh, let me show you the truth out of the Bible."
  • 00:09:11.150 --> 00:09:13.000
  • No, no, no. Grace is the truth.
  • 00:09:13.010 --> 00:09:15.020
  • See, you can show me something that's true in the book,
  • 00:09:15.030 --> 00:09:18.110
  • but it may not be the truth that makes you free from the law.
  • 00:09:18.120 --> 00:09:21.120
  • So the Bible is divided like this.
  • 00:09:21.130 --> 00:09:25.120
  • Just like the cross--I'm ahead of myself,
  • 00:09:25.130 --> 00:09:28.120
  • but--all right, what's the truth?
  • 00:09:28.130 --> 00:09:31.290
  • What's the truth? What's the truth?
  • 00:09:32.000 --> 00:09:35.220
  • What truth can make you free from the law?
  • 00:09:35.230 --> 00:09:39.210
  • You're right.
  • 00:09:39.220 --> 00:09:41.030
  • Just have confidence in what you're saying.
  • 00:09:41.040 --> 00:09:42.130
  • What's--I keep asking you 'cause I want you to have confidence.
  • 00:09:42.140 --> 00:09:44.170
  • "Grace?" What's the truth?
  • 00:09:44.180 --> 00:09:50.220
  • Grace is the truth that makes you free from what?
  • 00:09:50.230 --> 00:09:54.000
  • Grace is the truth that makes you free from the law.
  • 00:09:54.010 --> 00:09:56.120
  • He taught the Jewish people who were students of the law and he
  • 00:09:56.130 --> 00:09:59.010
  • says, "Hey, guys, you believe in me?"
  • 00:09:59.020 --> 00:10:01.190
  • "Yeah."
  • 00:10:01.200 --> 00:10:02.260
  • "I'm going to give you something that's going to make you
  • 00:10:02.270 --> 00:10:04.210
  • free from the law.
  • 00:10:04.220 --> 00:10:05.290
  • I'm going to give you some--I'm going to give you truth that
  • 00:10:06.000 --> 00:10:07.220
  • will make you free from the law."
  • 00:10:07.230 --> 00:10:09.010
  • Grace is the truth.
  • 00:10:09.020 --> 00:10:10.080
  • So what is he saying to Christian people?
  • 00:10:10.090 --> 00:10:11.180
  • Christian people who don't know the truth of God's grace,
  • 00:10:11.190 --> 00:10:15.220
  • they will be operating in some type of religious truth.
  • 00:10:15.230 --> 00:10:19.190
  • That won't be truth 'cause it's not God's grace, all right?
  • 00:10:19.200 --> 00:10:23.170
  • Now, go--let's go to--go back to John 1 and 17, John 1:17.
  • 00:10:23.180 --> 00:10:33.180
  • Now, I want you to look at this again.
  • 00:10:34.010 --> 00:10:35.220
  • I want you to just--I want you to see--I want you to look at it
  • 00:10:35.230 --> 00:10:40.190
  • and see if it's obvious to you like it is to me.
  • 00:10:40.200 --> 00:10:45.240
  • If we're Christians and we live by the Bible,
  • 00:10:45.250 --> 00:10:48.000
  • bless God we've got to know how to read it.
  • 00:10:48.010 --> 00:10:51.170
  • Now, look at verse 17. Let's read verse 17.
  • 00:10:51.180 --> 00:10:53.230
  • Ready? Read.
  • 00:10:53.240 --> 00:10:55.170
  • "For the law was given by... but grace..."
  • 00:10:55.180 --> 00:11:01.130
  • Okay, the law was given by who?
  • 00:11:01.140 --> 00:11:04.010
  • Grace was given by who?
  • 00:11:04.020 --> 00:11:06.050
  • Now can't you see the contrast?
  • 00:11:06.060 --> 00:11:10.130
  • Something came by Moses, something
  • 00:11:10.140 --> 00:11:13.240
  • different came by Jesus.
  • 00:11:13.250 --> 00:11:16.240
  • Something came by Moses.
  • 00:11:16.250 --> 00:11:18.250
  • What came by Moses?
  • 00:11:18.260 --> 00:11:20.230
  • What came by Jesus? Grace.
  • 00:11:20.240 --> 00:11:23.090
  • See, there you're going to want to say the truth.
  • 00:11:23.100 --> 00:11:25.020
  • Grace is the truth. Grace is the truth.
  • 00:11:25.030 --> 00:11:28.020
  • I did the same thing.
  • 00:11:28.030 --> 00:11:29.090
  • I just felt like it was incomplete unless
  • 00:11:29.100 --> 00:11:31.050
  • I say grace and truth.
  • 00:11:31.060 --> 00:11:32.200
  • Now, grace is the truth.
  • 00:11:32.210 --> 00:11:34.150
  • So when--I am not asking you--I'm not saying to you,
  • 00:11:34.160 --> 00:11:36.280
  • you know, grace and truth came from Jesus.
  • 00:11:36.290 --> 00:11:40.020
  • That is a correct statement, but I want you to understand
  • 00:11:40.030 --> 00:11:42.090
  • the law came by who?
  • 00:11:42.100 --> 00:11:44.150
  • Grace came by who? There's a contrast here.
  • 00:11:44.160 --> 00:11:48.130
  • You have got to--you've got to dive into that contrast.
  • 00:11:48.140 --> 00:11:52.280
  • That's the whole Bible right there.
  • 00:11:52.290 --> 00:11:54.160
  • Whether you are going to be accurate with interpreting
  • 00:11:54.170 --> 00:11:57.250
  • Scripture and understanding Scripture or not is going to be
  • 00:11:57.260 --> 00:12:00.150
  • based on verse 17.
  • 00:12:00.160 --> 00:12:03.090
  • The law by Moses, grace by Jesus.
  • 00:12:03.100 --> 00:12:08.190
  • Now, why would you say something like that?
  • 00:12:08.200 --> 00:12:10.100
  • Well, what if something is true under the law by Moses,
  • 00:12:10.110 --> 00:12:15.250
  • but it's not true under the grace by Jesus?
  • 00:12:15.260 --> 00:12:19.160
  • What if you're reading through the Bible and you just read
  • 00:12:19.170 --> 00:12:23.010
  • straight through the law right on into the covenant of grace
  • 00:12:23.020 --> 00:12:25.200
  • and you have no idea?
  • 00:12:25.210 --> 00:12:27.120
  • What's going to be your conclusion?
  • 00:12:27.130 --> 00:12:28.230
  • I'll tell you.
  • 00:12:28.240 --> 00:12:30.000
  • You will say the Bible contradicts itself 'cause over
  • 00:12:30.010 --> 00:12:33.030
  • in the law it say this, but over in grace it say that.
  • 00:12:33.040 --> 00:12:36.180
  • And over in the law it says this,
  • 00:12:36.190 --> 00:12:38.060
  • but over in the grace it says that and you will conclude the
  • 00:12:38.070 --> 00:12:40.270
  • Bible contradicts itself.
  • 00:12:40.280 --> 00:12:42.210
  • So who can live by a Book that contradicts itself?
  • 00:12:42.220 --> 00:12:46.040
  • No, the Book has to be rightly divided.
  • 00:12:46.050 --> 00:12:48.060
  • The law by Moses, grace by Jesus Christ.
  • 00:12:48.070 --> 00:12:51.240
  • Now, I guess some people think when reading this because the
  • 00:12:51.250 --> 00:12:57.110
  • law came by Moses and Jesus is talking about "I'll give you
  • 00:12:57.120 --> 00:13:01.120
  • something that will make you free from the law," and the
  • 00:13:01.130 --> 00:13:04.070
  • argument is no, you still got to keep the law.
  • 00:13:04.080 --> 00:13:07.210
  • All right, so let's go to Galatians 4 and 4,
  • 00:13:07.220 --> 00:13:14.000
  • Galatians 4 and 4.
  • 00:13:14.010 --> 00:13:16.120
  • Is everybody on this journey with me now?
  • 00:13:16.130 --> 00:13:17.270
  • I'm going to do everything I can.
  • 00:13:17.280 --> 00:13:19.040
  • I'm trying to take you through a review and just--and then in
  • 00:13:19.050 --> 00:13:22.220
  • the middle of it just really nail some stuff, okay?
  • 00:13:22.230 --> 00:13:25.290
  • There may be some people online hearing this for the first time.
  • 00:13:26.000 --> 00:13:28.020
  • Some of you have heard this before,
  • 00:13:28.030 --> 00:13:29.270
  • but it sounds fresh every time you hear it, doesn't it?
  • 00:13:29.280 --> 00:13:33.130
  • We're going somewhere and believe me we're going somewhere
  • 00:13:33.140 --> 00:13:36.050
  • a little deeper and a lot more radical than we have before,
  • 00:13:36.060 --> 00:13:40.210
  • but I have to set this up.
  • 00:13:40.220 --> 00:13:41.290
  • All right, now read verse 4 and 5.
  • 00:13:42.000 --> 00:13:44.220
  • Ready? Read.
  • 00:13:44.230 --> 00:13:46.060
  • "But when the fullness of time was come,
  • 00:13:46.070 --> 00:13:48.030
  • God sent forth his son made of a woman,
  • 00:13:48.040 --> 00:13:52.070
  • made under the law."
  • 00:13:52.080 --> 00:13:54.260
  • Jesus was made under the law, right?
  • 00:13:54.270 --> 00:13:57.140
  • Was born under the law, made under the law.
  • 00:13:57.150 --> 00:14:00.050
  • Verse--the next verse.
  • 00:14:00.060 --> 00:14:01.210
  • Now why was he made under the law?
  • 00:14:01.220 --> 00:14:03.000
  • To redeem.
  • 00:14:03.010 --> 00:14:04.200
  • All right, let's define the word redeem.
  • 00:14:04.210 --> 00:14:06.000
  • Redeem means to deliver or to pay the ransom for freedom.
  • 00:14:06.010 --> 00:14:11.260
  • Deliver, set free, or pay the ransom for one's freedom.
  • 00:14:11.270 --> 00:14:16.140
  • So Jesus was born under the law for what purpose?
  • 00:14:16.150 --> 00:14:20.050
  • What purpose was he born under the law?
  • 00:14:20.060 --> 00:14:22.230
  • So that he can deliver and pay the ransom for them that were
  • 00:14:22.240 --> 00:14:27.200
  • under the law.
  • 00:14:27.210 --> 00:14:29.180
  • Now, if it was okay to live life under the law,
  • 00:14:29.190 --> 00:14:32.270
  • why is Jesus dying--well, first of all,
  • 00:14:32.280 --> 00:14:37.070
  • born--being born to die?
  • 00:14:37.080 --> 00:14:39.090
  • Why is Jesus redeeming people from under the law when he was
  • 00:14:39.100 --> 00:14:43.160
  • born under the law if it was okay to live under the law?
  • 00:14:43.170 --> 00:14:48.050
  • He just said Jesus was made under the law for what purpose?
  • 00:14:48.060 --> 00:14:51.080
  • To deliver those who were under the law from the law that they
  • 00:14:51.090 --> 00:14:56.130
  • might receive the adoption of sons because under the law you
  • 00:14:56.140 --> 00:15:00.170
  • were a servant, but under grace you are a son.
  • 00:15:00.180 --> 00:15:09.260
  • Just think about that.
  • 00:15:09.270 --> 00:15:11.220
  • Why would Jesus come to deliver people from under the law?
  • 00:15:11.230 --> 00:15:15.190
  • And well to do Christians keep telling you you're supposed to
  • 00:15:15.200 --> 00:15:18.240
  • be living by the law and Jesus said,
  • 00:15:18.250 --> 00:15:21.190
  • "I came to redeem you."
  • 00:15:21.200 --> 00:15:23.140
  • So we talked about--when people talk about redemption,
  • 00:15:23.150 --> 00:15:26.060
  • "You're redeemed from sickness," amen.
  • 00:15:26.070 --> 00:15:29.210
  • "You're redeemed from poverty."
  • 00:15:29.220 --> 00:15:32.010
  • Amen.
  • 00:15:32.020 --> 00:15:33.130
  • Watch this.
  • 00:15:33.140 --> 00:15:34.210
  • "You're redeemed from the curse of the law."
  • 00:15:34.220 --> 00:15:36.150
  • Amen.
  • 00:15:36.160 --> 00:15:38.030
  • But then you're not redeemed from the law.
  • 00:15:38.040 --> 00:15:39.150
  • How are you going to be redeemed from the curse of the law and
  • 00:15:39.160 --> 00:15:41.180
  • still be under the law when the curse comes from the law?
  • 00:15:41.190 --> 00:15:47.140
  • I got your attention?
  • 00:15:47.150 --> 00:15:50.220
  • All right, so now let's back up and answer the questions.
  • 00:15:50.230 --> 00:15:54.080
  • Go to Deuteronomy 28.
  • 00:15:54.090 --> 00:15:55.280
  • Let's look at the law that came by Moses and then look at the
  • 00:15:55.290 --> 00:15:59.250
  • grace that came by Jesus.
  • 00:15:59.260 --> 00:16:01.280
  • All right, now follow me carefully here.
  • 00:16:01.290 --> 00:16:06.010
  • So do I have your attention?
  • 00:16:06.020 --> 00:16:08.090
  • These are--you're going to hear a preacher,
  • 00:16:08.100 --> 00:16:10.240
  • you're going to hear friends, you're going to have people tell
  • 00:16:10.250 --> 00:16:13.220
  • you, "Yes, Jesus came to deliver us from the law,
  • 00:16:13.230 --> 00:16:16.230
  • but we're still under the law."
  • 00:16:16.240 --> 00:16:18.260
  • There we go again.
  • 00:16:18.270 --> 00:16:20.130
  • Either he did or he didn't, and I just showed you a Scripture
  • 00:16:20.140 --> 00:16:23.220
  • where he was born under the law for the very purpose of
  • 00:16:23.230 --> 00:16:27.290
  • delivering those who are under the law.
  • 00:16:28.000 --> 00:16:30.220
  • Now, here's a little thing we got to talk about here.
  • 00:16:30.230 --> 00:16:32.250
  • He came to deliver those who are under the law.
  • 00:16:32.260 --> 00:16:35.040
  • Well, initially that referred to Jewish people because the law
  • 00:16:35.050 --> 00:16:40.160
  • was for Jewish people.
  • 00:16:40.170 --> 00:16:42.150
  • The law was not for non-Jews or Gentiles.
  • 00:16:42.160 --> 00:16:49.050
  • The problem is religion showed up in the world and took Gentile
  • 00:16:49.060 --> 00:16:55.280
  • people and say, "You're under the same law Jewish people
  • 00:16:55.290 --> 00:16:58.070
  • were on--are under."
  • 00:16:58.080 --> 00:17:00.040
  • So you got church folks thinking they under the law.
  • 00:17:00.050 --> 00:17:04.000
  • And so you just decided to live under the law,
  • 00:17:04.010 --> 00:17:06.250
  • which includes the Ten Commandments.
  • 00:17:06.260 --> 00:17:09.240
  • How many of you know they're more than just Ten Commandments?
  • 00:17:09.250 --> 00:17:12.160
  • How many total commandments are there?
  • 00:17:12.170 --> 00:17:14.180
  • Six hundred and thirteen.
  • 00:17:14.190 --> 00:17:16.130
  • If you ask Siri on the phone how--she even know it's 613.
  • 00:17:16.140 --> 00:17:23.080
  • All right, so there are 613 commandments,
  • 00:17:23.090 --> 00:17:27.180
  • 613 of these laws and we're talking about you're supposed
  • 00:17:27.190 --> 00:17:32.170
  • to be living by the law and you don't even know them.
  • 00:17:32.180 --> 00:17:37.020
  • "But I know all the ten." You don't even know all the ten.
  • 00:17:37.030 --> 00:17:39.010
  • I bet $1.000 you can't quote all the ten.
  • 00:17:39.020 --> 00:17:42.000
  • Some of you could because you learned it in Sunday school.
  • 00:17:42.010 --> 00:17:44.090
  • Some of you are about to say, "You're going to give it $1.000.
  • 00:17:44.100 --> 00:17:46.130
  • I'll be--I'll do it right now.
  • 00:17:46.140 --> 00:17:48.200
  • I'll do it, like you say, quick as a rat, R-A-T.
  • 00:17:48.210 --> 00:17:50.210
  • Bring it on."
  • 00:17:50.220 --> 00:17:54.010
  • So the law that was by Moses was a sum total of
  • 00:17:54.020 --> 00:18:03.260
  • those 613 commandments.
  • 00:18:03.270 --> 00:18:07.190
  • Jesus says, "I came to deliver you from those 613 commandments.
  • 00:18:07.200 --> 00:18:12.040
  • I came to show you a new and a living way.
  • 00:18:12.050 --> 00:18:15.060
  • I'm going to show you how to achieve what you would have got
  • 00:18:15.070 --> 00:18:17.080
  • by keeping the commandments, but I'm going to show you a
  • 00:18:17.090 --> 00:18:19.120
  • different way 'cause it's hard to keep those commandments
  • 00:18:19.130 --> 00:18:22.090
  • 'cause they're perfect and you're not."
  • 00:18:22.100 --> 00:18:25.150
  • They're perfect.
  • 00:18:25.160 --> 00:18:26.250
  • You know, I'm going to show you a Scripture tonight where the
  • 00:18:26.260 --> 00:18:28.060
  • Bible says that the law is holy, but you're carnal.
  • 00:18:28.070 --> 00:18:33.080
  • It said the law is spiritual, but you're carnal.
  • 00:18:33.090 --> 00:18:35.050
  • The problem is not with the law.
  • 00:18:35.060 --> 00:18:36.280
  • The law is not sin. The law is flawless.
  • 00:18:36.290 --> 00:18:39.060
  • It is perfect. It is holy.
  • 00:18:39.070 --> 00:18:41.030
  • The problem is trying to pair something perfect with
  • 00:18:41.040 --> 00:18:43.230
  • something that's imperfect.
  • 00:18:43.240 --> 00:18:46.050
  • And so men--fallen men trying to keep flawless
  • 00:18:46.060 --> 00:18:50.030
  • law will fail every time.
  • 00:18:50.040 --> 00:18:54.090
  • Another thing I'm going to show you tonight is you don't need
  • 00:18:54.100 --> 00:18:56.130
  • faith to live by the law.
  • 00:18:56.140 --> 00:18:58.230
  • So people who say, "Well, I live by faith," but then they say
  • 00:18:58.240 --> 00:19:00.270
  • they live by the law, the Scripture says you don't need
  • 00:19:00.280 --> 00:19:02.260
  • faith to live by the law, why?
  • 00:19:02.270 --> 00:19:05.160
  • It's real simple. Break the law, get the curse.
  • 00:19:05.170 --> 00:19:08.070
  • You don't need no faith for that.
  • 00:19:08.080 --> 00:19:09.200
  • "Don't do this, this will happen.
  • 00:19:09.210 --> 00:19:11.250
  • Do this, this will happen."
  • 00:19:11.260 --> 00:19:13.050
  • You don't need faith for that.
  • 00:19:13.060 --> 00:19:15.030
  • You don't need faith to live by the law.
  • 00:19:15.040 --> 00:19:16.240
  • Now, these are radical things that I'm telling you and it
  • 00:19:16.250 --> 00:19:18.190
  • contradicts what you've gotten in church,
  • 00:19:18.200 --> 00:19:20.270
  • but that's why I got to show it to you in Scripture.
  • 00:19:20.280 --> 00:19:23.170
  • All right, let's begin here in Deuteronomy 28:1,
  • 00:19:23.180 --> 00:19:26.030
  • and then after this we'll go to Deuteronomy 11:26.
  • 00:19:26.040 --> 00:19:29.020
  • Deuteronomy 28:1 says, "And it shall come to pass, if thou--"
  • 00:19:29.030 --> 00:19:33.120
  • Underline those two words,
  • 00:19:33.130 --> 00:19:35.100
  • very important two words because it's--disagreement is going to
  • 00:19:35.110 --> 00:19:38.270
  • be a conditional agreement, which means it's going to be
  • 00:19:38.280 --> 00:19:42.060
  • based on what you do first.
  • 00:19:42.070 --> 00:19:44.170
  • If thou is going to be based on what you do first.
  • 00:19:44.180 --> 00:19:47.030
  • The second thing about this agreement,
  • 00:19:47.040 --> 00:19:48.200
  • it's going to be performance based.
  • 00:19:48.210 --> 00:19:50.060
  • It's going to be based on your performance.
  • 00:19:50.070 --> 00:19:51.290
  • "If thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice
  • 00:19:52.000 --> 00:19:55.110
  • of the Lord thy God to observe and to do--"
  • 00:19:55.120 --> 00:19:58.190
  • This is about what you do.
  • 00:19:58.200 --> 00:20:00.060
  • "To observe and to do," performance based,
  • 00:20:00.070 --> 00:20:03.090
  • "all his commandments--" How many of his commandments?
  • 00:20:03.100 --> 00:20:06.170
  • How many of his commandments?
  • 00:20:06.180 --> 00:20:08.120
  • And how many is that?
  • 00:20:08.130 --> 00:20:09.220
  • congregation: Six hundred and thirteen.
  • 00:20:09.230 --> 00:20:11.080
  • Creflo: Okay, so that's the deal, right?
  • 00:20:11.090 --> 00:20:14.020
  • "Which I command thee this day that the Lord thy God will set
  • 00:20:14.030 --> 00:20:16.010
  • thee on high above all the nations of the earth."
  • 00:20:16.020 --> 00:20:18.220
  • So according to verse 1, the condition of you getting blessed
  • 00:20:18.230 --> 00:20:23.040
  • is that you have to keep all of the commandments,
  • 00:20:23.050 --> 00:20:27.010
  • number one; and if you perform all of the commandments,
  • 00:20:27.020 --> 00:20:30.230
  • then verse 2, watch this, "All these blessings shall come on
  • 00:20:30.240 --> 00:20:37.080
  • thee and overtake thee."
  • 00:20:37.090 --> 00:20:39.050
  • Now, how do you get the blessings to come on you and
  • 00:20:39.060 --> 00:20:41.230
  • overtake you according to the law that came by Moses?
  • 00:20:41.240 --> 00:20:45.260
  • You got to keep all the commandments, right?
  • 00:20:45.270 --> 00:20:48.060
  • I said you got to keep all the commandments, right?
  • 00:20:48.070 --> 00:20:50.180
  • I said you got to keep all the commandments, right?
  • 00:20:50.190 --> 00:20:55.100
  • How many of you just--you don't believe that you got to
  • 00:20:55.110 --> 00:20:58.110
  • keep all of them?
  • 00:20:58.120 --> 00:21:01.170
  • Anybody in here?
  • 00:21:01.180 --> 00:21:02.270
  • I mean, just a little bit you kind of don't believe that you
  • 00:21:02.280 --> 00:21:04.200
  • have to keep all of them?
  • 00:21:04.210 --> 00:21:06.220
  • I mean, when he said all, he didn't mean all.
  • 00:21:06.230 --> 00:21:09.050
  • So let's straighten that out.
  • 00:21:09.060 --> 00:21:10.200
  • Hold your place in Deuteronomy 28 and 2,
  • 00:21:10.210 --> 00:21:12.090
  • go to James chapter 2:10.
  • 00:21:12.100 --> 00:21:14.200
  • Go to James chapter 2 and 10, James chapter 2 and 10.
  • 00:21:14.210 --> 00:21:23.190
  • All right, read that out loud with me James chapter 2:10.
  • 00:21:23.200 --> 00:21:28.130
  • Ready? Read.
  • 00:21:28.140 --> 00:21:29.280
  • "For whosoever shall keep the whole law and yet
  • 00:21:29.290 --> 00:21:33.140
  • offend in one point--"
  • 00:21:33.150 --> 00:21:38.200
  • So whether you believe what I just said or not,
  • 00:21:38.210 --> 00:21:40.030
  • he says if you offend in one point,
  • 00:21:40.040 --> 00:21:43.060
  • in one area that you break, you're guilty of breaking the
  • 00:21:43.070 --> 00:21:46.140
  • whole thing 'cause the deal is not a proportional deal.
  • 00:21:46.150 --> 00:21:49.080
  • It is not if you can do two, then you get two blessings.
  • 00:21:49.090 --> 00:21:53.240
  • You got to do all. You understand that?
  • 00:21:53.250 --> 00:21:57.060
  • All right, now go back to Deuteronomy 28.
  • 00:21:57.070 --> 00:22:00.130
  • So, so far this law--you know, the law is about perfection.
  • 00:22:00.140 --> 00:22:06.230
  • The law is not about you doing a little piece of it,
  • 00:22:06.240 --> 00:22:09.040
  • failing a little bit and succeeding a little bit.
  • 00:22:09.050 --> 00:22:11.150
  • That's why it's so perfect. It's about perfection.
  • 00:22:11.160 --> 00:22:13.220
  • You remember when Jesus came in?
  • 00:22:13.230 --> 00:22:15.020
  • He raised the level of perfection in the new covenant
  • 00:22:15.030 --> 00:22:18.180
  • and that's a whole new deal there.
  • 00:22:18.190 --> 00:22:22.260
  • In Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John--I don't want to throw this
  • 00:22:22.270 --> 00:22:26.110
  • at you real quick.
  • 00:22:26.120 --> 00:22:27.210
  • Let me say it then I'll say it again, okay?
  • 00:22:27.220 --> 00:22:31.060
  • In the new covenant, you see Jesus coming in and saying,
  • 00:22:31.070 --> 00:22:36.200
  • "Are you a murderer?"
  • 00:22:36.210 --> 00:22:38.090
  • Because it was against the law to murder.
  • 00:22:38.100 --> 00:22:39.250
  • And so I imagine they said,
  • 00:22:39.260 --> 00:22:41.200
  • "Oh no, I hadn't murdered anybody."
  • 00:22:41.210 --> 00:22:43.070
  • He says, "Well, have you ever hated your brother?"
  • 00:22:43.080 --> 00:22:44.290
  • "Yeah." He says, "You're a murderer."
  • 00:22:45.000 --> 00:22:47.010
  • "Why are you doing that, Jesus?
  • 00:22:47.020 --> 00:22:49.030
  • I mean, you're making it even more impossible for me
  • 00:22:49.040 --> 00:22:51.210
  • to be able to keep."
  • 00:22:51.220 --> 00:22:53.100
  • Because if you're going to deal with the perfection of the law,
  • 00:22:53.110 --> 00:22:55.140
  • hating your brother makes you a murderer too.
  • 00:22:55.150 --> 00:22:59.290
  • Then he goes on and he says,
  • 00:23:00.020 --> 00:23:01.110
  • "Have you ever committed adultery."
  • 00:23:01.120 --> 00:23:03.010
  • Says, "No."
  • 00:23:03.020 --> 00:23:04.110
  • "Have you ever looked at a woman with lust in your eyes?"
  • 00:23:04.120 --> 00:23:05.180
  • "Yes."
  • 00:23:05.190 --> 00:23:07.020
  • "Well, you've committed--you're an adulterer."
  • 00:23:07.030 --> 00:23:08.290
  • Look at him.
  • 00:23:09.000 --> 00:23:10.070
  • He's lifting up the level and making it even more difficult
  • 00:23:10.080 --> 00:23:13.160
  • for you to keep, why?
  • 00:23:13.170 --> 00:23:16.000
  • This is perfect, you are not.
  • 00:23:16.010 --> 00:23:20.080
  • He didn't give the law so that you could have the advantage
  • 00:23:20.090 --> 00:23:24.270
  • over sin, he gave the law to give sin the advantage over you.
  • 00:23:24.280 --> 00:23:33.140
  • That's radical and it goes against everything we've
  • 00:23:33.150 --> 00:23:36.220
  • ever learned in our churches.
  • 00:23:36.230 --> 00:23:39.150
  • All right, go ahead to Deuteronomy 28.
  • 00:23:39.160 --> 00:23:43.000
  • Let's look at verse 2. Is everybody on the journey?
  • 00:23:43.010 --> 00:23:47.170
  • "All these blessings shall come on thee and all these blessings
  • 00:23:47.180 --> 00:23:51.130
  • shall overtake thee," uh-oh condition, "if thou--"
  • 00:23:51.140 --> 00:23:54.290
  • That's condition. Your performance is a condition.
  • 00:23:55.000 --> 00:23:57.140
  • You been blessed is going to be based on
  • 00:23:57.150 --> 00:23:59.160
  • your performance, all right?
  • 00:23:59.170 --> 00:24:02.050
  • "If thou hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God."
  • 00:24:02.060 --> 00:24:04.130
  • And then verse 3, if you do hearken,
  • 00:24:04.140 --> 00:24:06.220
  • "Blessed shall thou be in the city and
  • 00:24:06.230 --> 00:24:08.120
  • blessed shall thou be--"
  • 00:24:08.130 --> 00:24:09.190
  • Now, here's what he just said.
  • 00:24:09.200 --> 00:24:10.270
  • If your performance is acceptable, then you
  • 00:24:10.280 --> 00:24:14.030
  • will be blessed.
  • 00:24:14.040 --> 00:24:16.140
  • If you're doing the right things, then
  • 00:24:16.150 --> 00:24:18.270
  • you will be blessed.
  • 00:24:18.280 --> 00:24:21.080
  • All right, well, if you're not doing the right things?
  • 00:24:21.090 --> 00:24:24.090
  • Well, go to verse 15 'cause all of this is based on what you do.
  • 00:24:24.100 --> 00:24:30.280
  • This whole thing is based on your performance.
  • 00:24:30.290 --> 00:24:33.080
  • This agreement is a performance-based agreement.
  • 00:24:33.090 --> 00:24:38.120
  • announcer: How do you see the Christian life?
  • 00:24:39.180 --> 00:24:42.080
  • Is it a performance-driven life or is it a
  • 00:24:42.090 --> 00:24:45.030
  • life depending on Jesus?
  • 00:24:45.040 --> 00:24:47.060
  • In this series by Creflo Dollar, you will learn how your outlook
  • 00:24:47.070 --> 00:24:50.050
  • on God will affect how you live your life.
  • 00:24:50.060 --> 00:24:53.170
  • Creflo: If there's certain things that if you don't know
  • 00:24:53.180 --> 00:24:55.190
  • and don't understand, you'll walk around thinking that God's
  • 00:24:55.200 --> 00:24:58.260
  • a punisher and walk around thinking that God's responsible
  • 00:24:58.270 --> 00:25:02.240
  • for giving you cancer or killing this because that's just what
  • 00:25:02.250 --> 00:25:05.260
  • you heard because nobody rightly divided the Word.
  • 00:25:05.270 --> 00:25:08.130
  • announcer: Get the right perspective of God and walk
  • 00:25:08.140 --> 00:25:11.130
  • in all he has for you.
  • 00:25:11.140 --> 00:25:13.070
  • Creflo: He started the work.
  • 00:25:13.080 --> 00:25:15.040
  • He's going to finish the work.
  • 00:25:15.050 --> 00:25:16.180
  • All will be well. He just need you to believe.
  • 00:25:16.190 --> 00:25:20.290
  • Praise God.
  • 00:25:21.000 --> 00:25:23.240

  • with the message of grace and biblical equality.
  • 00:25:41.010 --> 00:25:44.180
  • Souls are being saved and lives are being transformed
  • 00:25:44.190 --> 00:25:47.280
  • all around the world.
