If You Are Hurting, There is Hope!

Life is filled with unknowns.

When a crisis hits, pain knocks on your front door and refuses to leave. This crisis can alter the course of your life dramatically.

How do you survive it?

In 2008, Pastor Greg Laurie lost his son in a car accident. When he heard this unimaginable news, the weight of the world fell on his shoulders. However, God’s word was the anchor that pulled him out of darkness. This period of sorrow pushed him to seek God’s guidance, strength, and comfort.

If you are dealing with grief, Pastor Greg says to remember this: Despite the hardships of life, we must remember that God loves us.”

After his son’s death, Pastor Greg needed to remind himself of this truth. He urges Christians to do the same when going through times of grief and hardship. When crisis hits, it’s easy to spend our time asking God “why?”  But Pastor Greg reminds us to “never trade what you know for what you don’t know.”   In other words, we may not know the reason for our seasons of hardship and sorrow, but we know that God loves us and is in control of our lives.

What are God’s promises to Christians?

Our Heavenly Father is a Healer, and He carries our life in His hands. In fact, God sacrificed His Son to abolish death and replace it with eternal life. We can’t escape earthly pain, but we can accept the promise of life after death. Through grief, Pastor Greg gained a deeper understanding of this promise.

We need to remember that death is not the end, and God has a future and a hope for every one of His followers (Jeremiah 29:11). In darkness, God is with you. He sees your hurt, your emotions, and your pain. If you are anchored in Christ, He will renew your spirit and carry you through the pain!

Proverbs 10:28 says: The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.
